Interesting spot DD! I knew 4 separate people who had Belmonts, one was an early E reg one in light metallic blue, but the roof was going surface rusty at just under 10 years old! He replaced it with an R Mondeo after that.
A work colleague had a red one from new, a mate's dad had another red one and another mate had a non metallic blue one, all of them H reg's.
MK2 Astra hatchbacks and Belmonts are all rare sights now and one of those cars that was suddenly just gone in the mid noughties, as the rear arches and front wings were quite rot prone. Both the fronts had surface rust on my old J reg 1991 1.4 5 dr Hatch Astra, I had, but was an old car when I had it from 2001-04.
My brother has owned since 2015, a 1990 H reg 8 valve GTE in red, as his "classic" so it's 30 years old now, as he takes it to some shows with the Astra owners club. He previously had going back to the late 90s/early noughties, 2 other MK2 Astras, a white D reg SRi 3 door, as his second ever car, and a J reg 1.6SX 5 door in grey, briefly.
On a separate note, last weekend on Easter Sunday, I was out and saw 2 opposite ends of the classic car spectrum, a pre war black and maroon Austin 7 box saloon and a big white 1964 Chevrolet Impala 4 door sedan I followed for a while.

It was absolutely mint 3ltr. I had one the same colour in the 80s. It was a 2.2 straight six with twin carbs. Went like stink. 50 in second gear no problem but even then it was a tenner in petrol every time you opened the door.
Two today, both in super nick. An R regd 1976/7 Rover P6 2200, in green and a Y regd Morris Ital, dark blue. The Rover must have been one the very last ones, as the SD1 came out in 76, although it was only available with the 3.5 litre V8 for the first year, the 2300 and 2600 came out later so the 2.2 version of the P6 was kept going until then.

Some greats spots there. Yesterday I passed in the opposite direction a Trafalgar blue E reg Morris Minor 2 door saloon, fitted with a boot rack on the bootlid.
