Here's Cheggers aged about 14 in 'Betcher!', a short film designed to teach kids about cycling proficiency.

Thought i would start a dedicated Keith Chegwin thread after a couple of interesting bits turned up in Keiths obituary thread. Nice find above Arthur. I never thought Peter Noone would turn up as the ref in a cycling proficiency film. Then again thinking about it quite a few high profile stars turned up in education films for children in the 70's. I never knew Keith was an actor as well as an accomplished presenter, his IMDb profile lists 35 acting credits Keith Chegwin IMdb page

Once heard it mentioned that my uncle went to school with Peter Noone. Not a very promising name Noone when you think about it- no one Cheggers had a stab at pop stardom, releasing this single in 1977, not a bad voice. I've got a double cd of various unlikely celeb singles called 'Ooh You Are Awful But We Like You' & this song is on it.

Well who knew I would not have picked it up as being Keith's voice if i didn't know. I think that track is a decent effort and most certainly better than some of the stuff we saw on the TOTP repeats from the same era.

He apparently made an appearance on a pop programme I remember called "Get it together". It ran from 1977-81 and the presenters mainly did the singing of new pop songs but there was guest appearances of "proper" groups of the day.
Cheggars appearance was on November 28th 1978 while the presenter/singers were Linda Fletcher, Mike Moran and his house band and regular host Roy North.

Here is Cheggers discography- www.discogs.com/artist/510328-Keith-Chegwin'I'll Never Fall In Love Again' was originally recorded by a band called Liverpool Express, according to their wikipedia page Cheggers version was 'a hit record in South America'. The band wrote a further single for him called 'Destiny', can't see it on youtube, here is the sleeve- There is an album on his discography featuring Pat Coombs, an unlikely pair you might think, Cheggers & Coombs, but in fact they did the voices of a dog & a cat in a forgettable children's show from the late 80s called Playbox-
