Hard to imagine it today but I remember Night Of The Lepus being shown on BBC1, 'Frogs' is another late night tv classic.
I was only watching 'At The Earth's Core' yesterday on the Horror Channel, other Doug McClure classics are The Land That Time Forgot & The People That Time Forgot, often now ludicrous special effects but great entertainment. In the same vein, The Lost Continent is a favourite of mine.
Turkey has made several ultra low budget 'remakes' of various films such as Star Wars, The Exorcist & Death Wish. The version of The Exorcist, called 'Seytan' is actually pretty good. The same can't be said for the Turkish remake of 'First Blood' ( video below ), another film that needs to be seen to be believed.

Turkey also made a pretty dodgy remake of Star Trek in about 1973 too! There was the feature length film of the 60's Adam West Batman series which made me laugh and the same with the Man from Uncle films - with Robert Vaughan etc. Cool incidental music and cars and birds that are easy on the eye!
For me though........ I really don't mind Elvis's musical films!! If there is nothing else on, some of the songs are cheesy, some of the films were poorer than others, but although we know the "Colonel" was only exploiting "E" as a cash cow (and HE was a bit narked about the scripts of some) they're a lot better than a lot of the modern rubbish made now! The period clothing, US cars, pretty girls etc are cool to see and some of the songs were OK!
On a different note, I don't mind watching Jason and the Argonauts despite the fantasy storyline and iffy effects with the monsters, and a Japanese made Godzilla film from about 1967 with obviously toy trucks and vehicles being thrown about by the subject of the film, I enjoyed as a kid!

Never seen it Sam but remember the ELO collab she did for the soundtrack.

I've just gone through various clips on YouTube for Xanadu and they are definitely cringeworthy... But this one stood out for me I think it gives an idea on the film itself but I can overlook that for ONJ Sam

Very brave and completely unexpected to admit to liking Dirty Dancing!
Its usually a typical male female divide.
Maybe there are more lurkers on the forum who just can't admit it. Dirty Dancing capured the mood of the 80's and cleverly tapped into the nostagia of a bygone era. Two people from different social classes falling in love ahhhhhhh !
And a man who can dance!! Whats not to love ? 😀

I've not seen Dirty Dancing, but I have seen some equally typically 80's films that I didn't mind such as Pretty In Pink. I also like Doc Hollywood. There is one film from my childhood that I watched recently, it's very, very bad but I liked it; a French Canadian film from the early 70's called "The Christmas Martian". It really is awful

Not sure I hate to admit liking it but "I bought a Vampire Motorcycle" is a bit on the cheesy side but there are a few comical scenes in it. It does get a bit silly towards the end to be honest. It was filmed around the time of Boon series 3 and has most of the cast of Boon starring in it.
I also quite enjoy Killdozer which Arthur mentioned earlier. I was introduced to that film in the 80's by my Dad and still enjoy watching it very occasionally now.
There are others that I like that have been mentioned.

I don't know about "Hating to admit." but Lately I've started to see 1950's American westerns in a better light, after thinking for a long time that they were rather boring and tame.
I've watched a few of these films and some of them are pretty good. There is a YouTube channel called Monco_82 that regularly puts up these westerns all in HD. (I would recommend the channel to any western fan.)
There are also a couple of spaghetti westerns on the channel. I haven't seen too many of the films on there, but I know where to find them now if I'm in the mood for watching one.
I've even got to like John Wayne a bit better now, although I still hate his war films.
Charles.

A sort of guilty pleasures thread, for the cinema. You know, films that are bad, but you just sort of like.
Here's a few of mine:
Dirty Dancing. Yep, said it! My wife loves it and watches it every time its on, I sort of like it a bit, mainly due to the great early 60s soul music tracks in it, and I also like the song Hungry Heart by Eric Carmen which was written for the film. Patrick Swayze couldn't act though, IMO ..........................
Good thread topic Cartman. I just have to say... Patrick Swayze didn't need to know how to act. Well, really, have a look at him ! Actually if he couldn't dance, that wouldn't even bother me.
