I was wondering whether anyone has made use of the T.P. encore service that started up about two months ago ? It allows you to watch T. P. content that you've missed. I tried to register for the service just before it started up, but for some reason it wasnt accepting either of the two email addresses I provided. I eventually sorted it out but only got round to trying the service last night, when I watched a very enjoyable interview with actor Micael Craig who is about 90 years of age these days. Also, one with Norman Eshley. I watched the catch up's on a browser on my TV and the quality was perfect.

They play a couple of minutes of ads here and there, but that's understandable. I've caught up on a few episodes of Freewheelers from the Southern TV archive. I also watched a few episodes of the long forgotten Southern soap Together from 1980/81 just to see if it was bad as I remember... it is. Quite an interesting soap concept though. Series one episodes were recorded two days before transmission so they could shoehorn topical items into the script. However, it comes across as a bit forced. Characters suddenly blurt out "Well this steel workers strike's a bit concerning, isn't it?", "Oh, I see the Chancellor's putting up interest rates by 2% again" and one episode about a group pools win even had Victor Madden say "Maybe we should buy a nuclear shelter with what's going on in the world at the moment".

I've just splashed out on a used Xbox One X console, though its primary purpose is to play videogames it doubles as a blu ray player & media player, by adding various apps there's all kinds of obscure content you can watch for free. I can access tptvencore using the web browser. I had watched 'Together' on tptv in the past, similar to 'Rooms' also shown on tptv but with noticeably fewer famous faces & a 'Crossroads'-like amateurishness about it, I watched the first 2 episodes today. I'll be looking at the other Southern TV offerings & the Saturday morning tv listings, I missed them on tptv as I don't generally watch tv in the morning or afternoon.

Has anyone watched a crime series on T.P. called 'Dial 99' made in 1958? Its only 30 minutes long and practically every bit of it was filmed on location, mainly in 1950s London, which is the main reason I love watching it.
Some of the story lines are pretty silly though. I was laughing my head off half way through tonight's episode. A gang needed to dispose of a dead body, after shooting one of their own members, played by Michael Balfour. Anyway a large removal type van pulls up in broad daylight, in the residential area of Maida Avenue and about five big ugly gang members emerge and get a large square wooden crate out of the back of the van carry it across the road and dump it on the pavement by the canal side and depart unaware that a copper on his beat had witnessed their actions. In Broad daylight though 😂
I thought the Maida Avenue location looked familiar, so I checked up on Google maps and realised I was right. It was the canal location the retro forum visited around 2016 where scenes from 'Georgie Girl' were filmed.
I think I'm going to end up buying the DVD set of this series. I just love those old locations, and also seeing actors who became well known later on, playing minor parts in the series.

I will sometimes watch stuff that's not that good, if I like the location filming and the era when it was filmed, which for me, is from just after the war until the early 80s. Will check this one out.
