TPTV are currently showing a forgotten Thames comedy drama from 1981/2 called 'Bognor'. I saw a bit of an episode a few days ago & thought it had the worst opening titles/music I've ever seen, judge for yourself below. Atrocious Aphex Twin could do a good remix of it I reckon!

A Canterbury Tale (1944) is on Talking Pictures on Tuesday afternoon It's a Powell and Pressburger wartime classic
Tue 04 Aug 20 @ 17:00
It features Eric Portman, Sheila Sim, Dennis Price and Sgt. John Sweet; Esmond Knight provided narration and played several small roles. It's flipping great Here's a highbrow essay about it...

Blimey, we're getting a bit highbrow on the forum with this! I almost choked on my glass of Newcastle Brown and cheese and pickle sandwich reading that. I'll set my electric video-gramphone recording thingy to catch this for later. Sounds my cup of tea, or rather glass of Newcastle Brown. Cheers Em.

You wouldn't get a story about a man pouring glue on women today, would you?
At 6.15pm today on tptv is the Humphrey Bogart film 'The Desperate Hours', I mention it because the famous Steptoe And Son episode of the same name is based on it.

I've not seen this film even though it's been broadcast plenty of times. After reading this though I will try to watch it this coming week. (Its on YouTube.) I've come to realise lately that Eric Portman was a really good actor. I watched one his films recently in which he played a cuckolded husband who plans revenge on his wifes lovers by an ingenious plan. He was very good in the part. I forget the title.

Agree. And also the title for the superb Porridge episode. In each case scripts, acting, production of the highest order. It's excellent when homage is paid to classics of the past.

Yes I've seen it before but watched it again, Humphrey Bogart is superb in it, his second to last film according to imdb, he doesn't look well in the film, he died two years later aged 57.

I still live in hope that the LWT early 70s TV series with Jeff Rawle as Billy will one day get a rerun
Like Budgie, another Keith Waterhouse and Willis Hall collaboration
Come on Talking Pictures
