I remember seeing this film at school back in 1984 and sadly haven't seen it since Excellent work there Gene, must have taken a lot of time and effort to research the film and its locations. BTW, my dad once had a conversation with Hannah Gordon on a train and said she was a lovely lady to talk too Vi

Amazing dedication, obviously a lot of research and hard work went into this.
Thanks for sharing. The forum is richer for it.
Love the replies you received, especially Hannah meeting her husband on set.

I promoted this thread on the 4:3tv Facebook page yesterday and someone (David Hough) has replied today saying they were one of the kids playing football with James Mason during one of the scenes which is fantastic! If you do pop over onto here David, we'd love to hear from you Gene.

This is great Gene What a fantastic insight to the film thanks to Bernie and good to see the responses to your letters, and that the cast have fond memories of the film. I have seen the film many moons ago and for the life of me can only remember the prominent scene where the fish that was refused by the daughter (Susan George ?) is served up everyday for tea until she eats it. Having read this thread it makes me want to watch it again.

Just looking through this thread whilst waiting for my Mrs outside the G.P's. (Sorry I missed it when it went up, but we were away last week and I was pretty ill the week before.)
This is really interesting Gene, there's a lot to read and I will go through it all properly later on today. I will get hold of this film, I'm a James Mason fan anyway. How very kind it was for most of these people to get in touch with you like that.
Wasn't Michael Medwin a mate of Norman Rossington? I remember seeing him coming out of Lime Street Railway Station once, but he didn't look in the best of health then.
Thanks for sharing this Gene.
Charles.
