My mum bringing home the Christmas Radio Times was something I looked forward to growing up, mind you Christmas itself I'm sure we all used to look forward to, but for years now I can't wait for it to end

I've just been looking through the Christmas TV listings for this year and wish I hadn't bothered. Call the Midwife, Mrs Brown's boys, Eastenders, Coronation street, a repeat of the Two Ronnies. It used to be so good at one time.. I'm trying to remember the last year when I got excited about the Christmas schedules. I don't think it was that long ago....Ah just remembered...it was 1977. I was only saying earlier on, that the TV companies don't seem to respect the viewers as much these days. That was after I was told that a Minder episode being shown had been on at least three times this past week. Thats a very poor line up for Christmas viewing though. They dont seem to try much these days. I absolutely can't stand Mrs Brown and 'her' family members. Lets face it, there's not as much talent around as there was at one time. .charles.

The Apprentice, or Lord Sugars idiot fest. I caught about 5 minutes of it this week and it's just an excuse to ridicule deluded egotists, you know the "I wake up at 4am, have an espresso, work out and then start answering emails at 6am" crowd.
To be fair, I woke up at 4am this morning to go to the bog so I might be on it next year.

Always thought this show presented a dated & jaundiced caricature of how business works, much like 'Dragons Den'. I'm not in the business world but I'm sure it doesn't have to involve being a humourless, miserable, ruthless b****d as these programmes like to portray business people.

I've not heard anything about it at all - usually some egotistic maniac is paraded over the front pages and around the BBC and you can't get away from it. The old version of 'Covid' news.
I saw one of the early episodes years back and the "contestants" on it contained characteristics of just about every person I hate, but would love to run over and reverse to ensure it's done properly.
It'd make a great Top Gear episode. Running over an Egotistical Pig Face in a pretty cheap Ford Mondeo (other cars available)
I'll pitch that to Sugar...

Spot on Arthur - that's all there to make "good telly" - like Nasty Nick in Big Brother, Simon Cowell with his excuses for 'talent' programming etc.
There are a few fresh faces in business who seem to think this is the way to be - and are like that.
Sadly, most of them are currently masquerading as "Members of Parliament" each with their own Career driven agenda and think they are above the law.

Looks more like Love Island now, all the contestants preened within an each of their lives. They are not normal business people.

TBF the original version wasn't too bad and of it's time. Time to put this UK version out of it's misery, could say that about a load more tosh on the box too.
