I believe a speedway bike is still the fastest 0-60mph time in all Motorsport. Having a look at the wiki page SpeedwayIts clear why these bike are so rapid Machines used must: Weigh no less than 77 kg (unfuelled) Use a four-stroke, single-cylinder engine with one carburettor and one spark plug and a maximum capacity of 500cc Be fuelled by methanol with no additives

Can't wait.

Great clip there Sam. What a story Tai's is. Youngest World Champion in the current era and travels thousands of miles a week riding all over Europe, despite his accent he's British too. Knows no fear and yes, rode with a broken collarbone on a 500cc bike with no brakes!! Yes, Steve, despite his links with Australia, he was born in Lincolnshire so qualifies for Great Britain. He helped Wolves win the 2009 Elite League title and, of course, became Britain's first world champion in the sport for over a decade in 2013. Maybe he can help Team GB win the Speedway World Cup one year. Vi

The original link doesn’t work now but there is footage on YouTube I think. My dad could well have been there watching - he grew up in Plymouth, and still lives there now to be fair, but I know he used to go and watch at Pennycross. He would have been 8 at the time of that clip. I recently bought him an iPad and he’s finding all sorts of old clips of stock cars and speedway etc from way back when that he’s loving revisiting. Prior to that he was tying to watch it on a very old iPhone so I thought I’d make it easier for him! He and then he and my mum went to watch stock cars at Newton Abbot until they had a baby in the early 90s who screamed constantly at the noise ... sorry . But I think it closed when I was about 2 or something anyway unfortunately.
