You don't see women wearing headscarves much today either. It's partly to do with fashions changing but also the headscarf was a generational carry over from the days when women worked in mills & munitions factories & had to keep their hair out of the way. Also, back then having your hair done was a bigger thing than it is today & covering the hair made it last longer. Men don't wear hats today either of course, nor suits unless they have to. No 'leisurewear' back then.

Interesting you mention headscarves, Arthur. My mum regularly wore one in the 1960s and 70s. They were still fashionable for older women even into the 1980s too, but then disappeared altogether. The Queen was often seen wearing one many years ago. Vi

You don't see women in hair rollers much either, they were a common sight. My mum still has a set of Carmen Rollers but they've not been used since the 80's, I don't think she ever went out in them like Hilda Ogden though.

There's no hats or headscarves in this clip:
And to think the rider did this after surgery on a broken collarbone, what would he have been like at full fitness?

Great clip there Sam. What a story Tai's is. Youngest World Champion in the current era and travels thousands of miles a week riding all over Europe, despite his accent he's British too. Knows no fear and yes, rode with a broken collarbone on a 500cc bike with no brakes!!

Good clip. Like the way Speedway riders counter steer in the bends to control the turn along with the throttle control.

It is the speed at which he overtook the Range Rover that amazed me, it is life the car had a Sunday driver in it!

I believe a speedway bike is still the fastest 0-60mph time in all Motorsport.
