Great selection there Carty, I remember them all so well. Strewth, I'd have been 13 years old at the time.
Funny how tastes change, I used to hate Rhinestone Cowboy at the time but now more than happy to give it a listen.
Sam.

I was 15 and remember it like yesterday!! This selection is all from about September/October 75, which is when I first really got into chart music

Great selection ! I remember buying a cassette back in 75 with the Supersonic TV show logo on with most of those tracks, though I would add Once Bitten, Twice Shy by Ian Hunter to the list. Jigsaw and Roxy Music are standouts for me. Love Is The Drug is an interesting one. It's like Bryan Ferry got bored of writing art school arty farty surreal wordplay lyrics and thought, "Sod it. I'm just going to write a song about a single bloke out on the razz". Dim the lights, you can guess the rest..

That was on the chart at the same time! I actually bought it, the B side was Talking Blackpool Blues...

I remember him as one of the weekly music break acts on That's Life shortly after he did Rochdale Cowboy. A great comedian, but his serious stuff was good too. One of his songs called Christmas 1914 about the British and German soldiers in the trenches laying down the guns for one day and playing football in "No Man's Land" brings a lump to the throat.
