...can't say I'm a huge fan of OMD but there were a number of tracks I'd not heard for many years and so were decent background music while I was working. Sam I can take or leave OMD a bit myself too. They did one I liked, Enola Gay from late 1980. That one I thought was very good. Good shout on OMD there lads.
I've also found OMD an odd one for me. They've done some great stuff in there time and some of it is what I consider essential and have bought over the years. But, they've also done a few tracks over the years (both early, mid and now) that I can take or leave. I haven't seen them live, I'm 50/50 on doing that but I suppose they'd be a good one to see - albeit once.
For me they're a little bit like say Human League/Heaven 17, Pet Shop Boys etc. they're good at times very good but when they go a bit to pop for my liking I switch off and don't really rate them as essential in comparison to the stuff I'd buy and see in an instant. Although for their fans that (my stuff) might float their boat either.
Also they lose a few points for Andy and Paul falling out in the late '80's and as for Andy's involvement with Atomic (sodding) Kitten.

I've been listening to quite a bit of Renegade Soundwave recently - I think their stuff really stands up, mainly because they weren't trying to slavishly copy other artists of the era

Both groups were great that night
I also worked at Our Price Records in Oxford Street in the early 1980s and I remember we sold shed loads of OMD's debut album.
I love their early stuff (e.g Red Frame White Light, Electricity etc) - then I ost interest
I've gone back to them recently and found a surprising amount to enjoy
Some dance Andy McCluskey has going on eh?....

Quite enjoy their stuff too, they were a bit like a 'geezer' version of the late '80's dance acts that have been on the TOTP-88 repeats recently. Still give their stuff a play now and then too.
Meat Beat Manifesto are also worth checking out if you like RS too.

I was very close to getting tickets for OMD's performance at Liverpool Museum recently but I think something else or some other reason got in the way of the date they were doing it.
I think I will give them (and maybe PSB) a go live - also their new stuff like The Punishment of Luxury etc. has been quite good IMO too.
