That set of titles Sparky are from the 7 plays in the blu ray set. Colin Welland is in one, 'A Passage To England' & wrote another, 'Your Man From Six Counties' & his mate Brian Glover is in 'Shakespeare Or Bust'. 'A Photograph' is directed by John Glenister, dad of Philip & stars George Carter's wife. Of the 7 I've seen 'Shakespeare Or Bust', the second in a trilogy of plays featuring the escapades of 3 miners played by Brian Glover, Ray Mort & Douglas Livingstone & 'A Photograph' which is a horror-ish story.
Just shows how quickly things change, a few years ago the BBC were offering low bitrate PFT's for streaming at £4 each until that venture went belly up, now they've been given the HD treatment. With over 300 different plays it must be a job deciding which to restore & release.
BBC4 did repeat some episodes, but I always seemed to come across them while they were in the last 5 minutes.
They also did a Mike Leigh season in 2013 - where they showed "Nuts & May" - with Roger Sloman and Alison Steadman and "Abigails Party". The really spooky thing is at the time, I happened to be working on Mike Leighs "Mr Turner" film!
"Bar Mitzvah Boy" and "The Evacuees" both feature on a Jack Rosentahl at the BBC box set..
I didn't realize that Rumpole of the Bailey started life as a PFT - but John Mortimer took it to Thames as they offered him a series.

BBC4 is having a celebration of PFT next week, didn’t catch what day it’s on.

BBC4 is having a celebration of PFT next week, didn’t catch what day it’s on. Thanks for the heads up on this 3L. It's on Monday 12th; there is a 90min documentary and then an episode.
Not sure if they are repeating any others.

Had a look at the schedule & after the documentary they're showing 'Country' written by Trevor Griffiths-
"In 1945, the Carlions assemble at an English country house for a family gathering. During the event, they must determine who is to take over the family brewing empire, since the present head of the business, Sir Frederick, is getting old. The results of the 1945 general election causes a major stir, and some angry farmers occupy a barn"
Then on Wednesday 14th they're showing 'Abigail's Party' yet again, a great piece of tv but they have shown it so many times in recent years that I think most are familiar with it, Mike Leigh did 6 PFT's to choose from & there are hundreds of others they could show, why keep showing the same ones? BBC4 repeat things endlessly.
Maybe they'll show more. Really they ought to be marking the 50th anniversary with a season of plays on BBC1 or 2 given that PFT was a significant strand showcasing some of the best writing & acting you'll see, but of course it won't happen.
BBC4 is a wasted opportunity, for months they've been showing Eastenders episodes in order from 2008. Why? And why are they showing 'The Joy Of Painting With Bob Ross' when to my knowledge it was never shown in the UK & Ross is barely known here except for being the face of painting products in craft shops. Show 'Paint Along With Nancy', at least UK viewers remember that show.

I remember Paint Along With Nancy Kominsky well Arth, but oddly enough, I've asked people a number of times over the years and rarely does anyone else. I can't understand it because to me, it seemed to be on all the while as a kid.

They can't show any painting programmes featuring Rolf Harris - they'll all be on the "restricted" shelf in the archive - next to anything featuring Jimmy Saville / Gary Glitter etc, etc, etc.
I'd never heard of Bob Ross until I heard Frank Skinner talking about him.
Indeed Arthur, I never understood why the hell BBC4 were showing Eastenders from 2008. Not exactly "classic" episodes.
They could have easily celebrated PFT with a season of films - there's 14 years worth to pick from.

I'm banned from watching Joy of Painting as the rest of the tribe can't stand Bob Ross, with his "happy little clouds" comments. Never heard the programme Gene mentioned, must look it up.

From memory Paint Along With Nancy was on about 2pm on ITV on a weekday, I certainly remember it being on in the mid 80's. According to wikipedia 52 shows were made by HTV from 1974-78, then she made some shows in America in the 80's. Apart from the theme music ( a library theme called 'Supersoundic' by Heinrik Nielsen according to a yt comment ) I remember her wiping the knife she used to paint with on a roll of toilet paper attached to her easel.
