BBC iPlayer has something called Theatre 625, which I presume refers to the old line count.
A few different plays on offer.

BBC iPlayer has something called Theatre 625, which I presume refers to the old line count. A few different plays on offer. There was also "Jazz 625" too which funnily enough featured Jazz music - in 625 line.
These were programmes produced specifically for BBC2 - at the time; BBC 1 and ITV were 405line VHF. When BBC2 was proposed, the higher definition of 625line was specified - as it would be also compatible with future introduction of Colour TV.
So - when BBC2 opened, it was on 625line - so anyone wanting to receive it had to have another Aerial fitted - and buy another TV set too. Colour broadcasting experiments began on BBC2 around 1967 - with numerous Trade Test films broadcast sporadically during the day, as well as the Test-Card accompanied by whole host of nice lift music. And Wimbeldon was also broadcast in colour too. (Footage of some of these tests and Wimbledon does exist).
Incidentally - all older Tube TVs (not the LCD flat ones) are 625line - our front room one still is!

We didn't get a TV that could get BBC2 until 1975, which let me watch the last series of Python! Didn't BBC2 go bang shortly after launch and was re-launched?

There was a power cut literally just before they were due to go on air for the first time. Most of West London was blacked out. Can't remember if the opening night was posponed 24hours, or went on air as soon as power was restored.
There is footage of this in the BBC archive - and I think it still exists on some corner of Youtube.

I remember the excitement of watching programmes in colour for the first time. Amazing!
Mind you had to be at a friends house as we didn't get that until 1979!!
I think we get our old Bush TV from about 64 to 75.
Had four push buttons and a rotary on/off and volume.
You had to turn it on, on Sunday night to be able to watch Mid-Week on Wednesday evening.

Yes she was. Nuts in May is brilliant, Roger Sloman is superb as Keith.
