As I've just started to work my way through each episode to get all the locations collated for the list, I was intrigued by a few things I discovered along the way regarding how the producers got around hiding some glaring modern day objects.
In the first picture below, you can clearly see a white burglar alarm box above the door.
In the next picture, you can see that the production team removed the alarm from the finished footage by colouring over it but crudely leaving it's shadow. Blink and you'll miss it!
In the next image, you can clearly see the row of houses have a collection of alarm boxes along the street (indicated)
In the next image, you can see that the production team very crudely drew over the alarm boxes with sampled sections of brickwork. Again, blink and you'll miss it!

And another twist....
In 2006 during filming, the houses all had a satellite dish, which explains the size of the covering sample in post production.

I'd have thought they'd have put a bit more effort in than that. It is all fairly crude.
Great spot though Guv, with your investigative skills you're going the right way to become a good copper!

Nice work again Gene and the after shots do give a sense of perspective of the work they did on LoM and some of the idiosyncrasies they left in too. Appreciated!

Here is another example of the production team removing unwanted features.
In picture 1, notice the patch of red brickwork in the centre / top of the picture. This is to hide the street name sign you can see in picture 2.

I've lost count of how many times I've watched the whole series now but I've never noticed this before. Brilliant spotting Gene.

More evidence of poor post production as I've gone through episode 4 locations today.
A satellite dish has been erased but they left the bracket in shot!
Look at the gable end of the house behind Sam...
Here is the dish in all its glory, including another later addition.

That's a bit messy. Not that most would notice a somewhat inconspicuous 'pipe' in comparison to an oversized satellite dish, but it could still have been tidied up a bit better.
Great spotting and great thread Gene.

You'd have seen it yourself Sam if you'd turned round

I was too busy making sure the camera wasn't looking straight up my hooter to concentrate on a errant bracket in the background. Sam.

At the time of its broadcast I wasn't aware of how they had to use cgi editing to produce the series. When I watched it I didn't notice all these bits. Interesting to comb through it and find all this stuff right under your nose. I think that they had a lot of work to go through, presumably frame by frame so i guess they only did the bare minimum.
I bet the majority of the public didn't really notice it either as you tend to be drawn to the characters on screen.
