The only other things missing from the Cooper model are sheepskin seat covers, an 8-track stereo, a complete respray in metallic purple, tinted windows all round, boy racer 6" wide rims and a mini skirted dolly bird in the passenger seat... . Seriously though the 'Woody' Traveller looks great, it reminds of the one our neighbour had in the '70s although her's was dove grey rather than pale blue. The wood on it had been revarnished so many times it looked like dark teak and there was moss growing in the sliding window channels, but somehow it always got through the MOT test. I might just regret having opened this thread... Villain Edit : I've just read the blurb for the white Mini '621 AOK', it says it was the first Mini ever built but it's not quite true. This 'myth' has somehow become 'fact' down the years but two other production Minis were built by hand at Cowley before '621 AOK' existed, these two cars were built while the factory was shut down over the Easter weekend of 1959 and had lower chassis and body numbers than '621 AOK'. As time has passed they were forgotten and no doubt scrapped long ago, which makes '621...' the oldest original 1959 Mini left in existence. A few years ago another white Mk1 850 was claimed to be older than '621...' but it was found to have been reshelled in the '80s with a Mk4 bodyshell, the only 'original' item pertaining to the car being the log book and old style number plates!
Having said all that, '621 AOK' in it's current state is not 100% original either. During its time with the Longbridge press fleet it was fitted with a period Webasto sunroof but by the time the car passed into the hands of the BMIHT at Gaydon the sunroof disappeared and a complete new roof panel was welded in place. A few other items have been replaced in recent years too.

Interesting stuff Villain It's amazing how these myths somehow become "fact"! Villain, if you were going to buy one of the Sunstar Minis which one would you go for? I was tempted by the Cooper, but after you mentioning the stainless steel trim was missing from the front doors it has put me off, so I am thinking either the red Austin Seven or 621AOK, assuming of course I can find one at some point on eBay! Although I am thinking of going to the Sandown Park toy fair this Saturday so I may find one there. The Saint

An easy one though would be to go for the red one and turn it into 'BAP 245B' from Randall & Hopkirk, all you need to do is make up the numberplates and repaint the interior trim in Tartan Red. Here's another very tasty large scale model, the quarter scale 1970 Range Rover which resides at Gaydon museum... Villain

That quarter scale Range Rover looks great, I suppose it must be about 4 feet long.

On the subject of Minis, check out this huge 1:12 scale model of the Morris Mini Minor/Austin Seven made by Sunstar. Incredible detail - even the wheels un-bolt! All the variations are very limited editions, they are no longer made, but some are available on eBay. I know Villain especially will appreciate these Mini models. Click below for more details: www.sunstarmodelcars.com/morris_mini.htmThe Saint You can change the wheel ! Is that in case you get a flat tyre ? Nice thread topic D.C. Burtonshaw. I have a teeny little collection of my favourite cars but not like these intricately detailed models.

Talking of the Minis I do have this Scalextric Italian Job Mini set:
I'm not a rivet counter when it comes to the detail but I liked the set and added them to the collection. Needless to say they've not been on track yet.

Aye Gene, that's a cracking looking set Sam's got there . A few years back a chap in one of the Mini clubs managed to buy the three original reg' numbers from the DVLA, he then sourced three appropriate '60s bodyshells and built them up into replicas of the Italian Job threesome. I understand that another chap up in Scotland has a replica of the coach as well, complete with stripped out interior and opening rear doors. Villain

The coach too?
Take a look from 14:09 for about 20 seconds:
Here's another view with slightly different camera work from 08:32 on - make note of the white Mini taking two attempts

The truck... if you mean the LWB Landrover or the minibus they used in the film then no, I don't think either of those survive and I don't know of any replicas doing the rounds. The red E-Type jag ('CRY 848'), the Aston DB4 drophead and the orange Lamborghini Miura seen driving through the Alps in the opening scene are still about though. The E-type has been featured in a few mags recently and the Miura is for sale up in Cheshire. Villain
