Does anyone have the link to the above? I've tried to find it in the DVLA site and no cigar.
The facility provides a complete record of cars registered in the UK, including those no longer in existence and it shows when the car was last taxed. Essential for tracing what became of old cars you may have owned/driven/noted from old television series, etc.

In fact, this is the link I found but I didn't pick the car make from the drop-down so it came back with a nil return. I've just tried it again and it works. Very useful.

The RAC also has a useful option where you can find the car model from its registration.
The top section from the >>> RAC Car Data Check <<< page will give you make and model details without needing to pay for the full data check.

Just clicked on that link Sam & a picture of Quentin Wilson appeared!! Scared the s**t out of me!! I use the DVLA checker mentioned & although it doesn't list the model anymore it is generally very helpful. Interstingly enough though it shows two of my cars currently on SORN as just untaxed which would normally mean they weren't SORN'd at all!
