I think the advertising on the TV was sometimes as entertaining as the programme you were watching! I'd appreciate someone backing me up on this memory as I cannot find anyone who remembers it but there was an advert that I only saw once & it may've been the late 70's or early 80's. It was a series of three or four ads run one after the other; during the second ad the first ad cast crashed the advert; the ad ended & when the third ad started both the previous ads crashed that one & it ended with the last ad being taken ove by the cast of the previous three. It was all done by one advertiser but I cannot remember who; it was hilarious as I remember one ad featuring men on horseback that crashed through a wall into the next ad.
I'm sure it wasn't just done on a comedy show; it was a real advert but nobody remembers it.... am I going diddlo!!

That seems to ring a bell with me, I'm not sure but seem to think it was a drink ad. Not quite a Hofmeister 'Follow the bear' thing but at a similar time. I think I'd seen it in the Pearl & Dean ad section before a film at the flicks.
Of course I could be going diddlo too (and cue the predictable insult from The Saint!...)
There were a good number of ads around that sort of time that were very entertaining but they seem to have fallen by the wayside and ads nowadays seem to have no redeeming content.
Sam.

Sam. Ahh yes I remember those Hofmeister Ads Sam, my Dad ran the bar at his works bowling club & I got quite a lot of Hofmeister promotional stuff that wasn't used on the bar. As you say the modern ads for the most part don't inspire me to watch them; much less buy the product!

I think it's a Spike Milligan sketch from the Qx series, which may have been based on a spoof advert. The details escape me for now, and I could be totally wrong

Possibly Windy but I'm sure it wasn't a comedy sketch; it does sound like something Mr Milligan may've done on the 'Q' programme though!
