I couldn't find a thread for Bottom so apologies if there's one knocking around, Gold are showing extended versions of 'Digger' and 'Holy' on the 19th April in the UK. www.comedy.co.uk/tv/fyi/496/extended-bottom-episodes-on-tv/I think these longer edits are on the DVD but it's the first time they've been aired on TV, might be worth a watch especially if Gold have something special around it too.

I recently read Ade's biography Berserker - it's really great and much better than I was expecting
That said, I used to think Bottom as absolute tosh and could not fathom its popularity
Reading Berserker made me wonder if I should try to reevaluate it
Probably never will though
I will say The Young Ones has not aged well - and at the time everyone everywhere blimmin loved it

I think that any series that Rik Mayall was in was superb: "The Young Ones", "Filthy, Rich and Catflap", "Bottom", "The New Statesman" and even when he appeared in other comedy programs such as the four Blackadder series, the episodes he appeared in were the best episodes. Ade Edmondson was/is brilliant too but Rik just that bit better. I've always been a fan of the series as well as the live shows and even now follow "The Hammersmith Hardmen" on Instagram where various clips, out-takes, and live show ad-libs are posted. An extended Bottom? I'd have thought "Distended" was more suited given some of the episode names! I'll have to set the programs up for recording. Thanks for the prior notification Dirty Sam.

Bottom was ace. I liked Rik Mayall and more or less everything he was in. Loved him as Lord Flasheart in Black adder goes forth😀

His early incarnation as Kevin Turvey was so funny in "A Kick Up The 80s" and "The Man Behind The Green Door". Recommended viewing. Thanks for the tip (ooer) Dirty, will set those to record.

Bottom was a great show that was a bit marmite. I was the only one who liked it among my friends even though most liked The Young Ones. The adventures of Eddie and Richie were just as mad as some of The Young Ones stuff. Bottom also had some great side characters like Spudgun and Dave Hedgehog I really kick myself for not seeing the Bottom live shows. They were notorious for Rick and Ade trying to mess each other up with ad-libs. Did anyone see a live show ?

As Sam has said earlier, they were a magic team, Rik & Adrian, but Rik was in a league of his own. A genuinely nice bloke in real life too. Gene.
