Did you celebrate by staying in and watching The Sweeney?

This would have been a month before my 2nd birthday. We lived in Southport back then and I believe at the same time on BBC1, they were repeating Starsky & Hutch on Friday nights.
Norman Eshley was outstanding in this episode. He was the opposite of David Keel in Country Boy. Started out ok, but when it came to armed confrontations, he wasn't up to it.

Just watched Taste of Fear, tis a great episode! love the bit where Haskins introduces Hargreaves' to Jack and George! But Jack never takes to him straight from the off! It Just cracks me up! Lol! Hargreaves is busy telling George his Curriculum Vitae' while Jacks more interested in telling jokes about Ginger Ale'

I watched this again a few days ago. George Sweeney is so good in this episode, managing to get across a psychotic character without the overused cliches.
I have only just noticed in the tiny print on my box set that it states it's the "Uncut version". What was cut - the dodgy line from Dennis about the girl on the bike or was some of the violence cut ? I presume it went out as filmed originally but with cuts in the 1981 and subsequent repeats ?

I think the main cut is the scene where Hargreaves gives Tug Wilson a beating at his flat while Daniels waits outside. Gene.

Well it is a bit uncomfortable to watch but a crucial scene revealing that Hargreaves to be a bully if the odds are on his side. Must admit the thought that flashed in my mind was "poor old Mr Harman from Grace Brothers is getting some grief"

They cut a brief few seconds at the start where George Sweeney refers to the old geezer's Irish heritage shall we say.

'Visiting Fireman' is the only other episode which is described as the 'full uncut version' on the Network dvd set, not sure which particular scene presented a problem

I think it was the final shot with the barmaid in the German WW2 helmet. The Saint
