Just as I did last year I took the afternoon out yesterday to take the bike to Brooklands Museum for their annual Motorcycle Day event. As last year I gave the M3 motorway a miss and enjoyed a leisurely ride from home over to Weybridge via the A and B roads. Once at Brooklands I was expecting to be ushered to a non-descript section of the museum grounds as I was before but not so, I was directed towards the Brooklands Concorde and managed to get a place at the end of the line of bikes right beneath the nose of Concorde as can be seen in the first picture below: https://www.instagram.com/p/CuPeQM2qciD There was a good selection of bikes here on display throughout the museum site from all manufacturers, vintages and bike styles as well as the odd (as in peculiar) bike here and there. A custom style 'chopper' with a Chevrolet V8? A one-off bike with a 7-cylinder radial engine? Neither are to my taste but they were present nonetheless. https://www.instagram.com/p/CuPeyuuqo6A From the Instagram post below it can be seen that the Dunelt in the first and second pictures are rarities but this is a bike that my paternal grandfather owned and used to ride around with his pet Alsatian sat on the tank. Just the thing you could get away with in those days. https://www.instagram.com/p/CuPgnkpKRG2 It was good to get out and spend a few hours alone to wander around and check out the bikes that took my interest. There were many there that I would love to own but I certainly wouldn't swap my Suzuki for any of them now, it has taken a lot of time and work to get it back as close as I can to original so I'll be hanging on to that one. Sam.
