I've just watched the first one of this dramatization of a real case in South Wales in 1973 and it's very good. Phillip Gleinster is in it and he's good as usual. It flits between 1973 and 2002 when the case was reopened as some new evidence to light. Phillips character is in both eras as he was still in the force in 02, and he was on the original investigation in 73.
At the time the case was unsolved but it was finalised in 2002, but too late as the killer had died of cancer in 1990.
The 70s were well recreated, some great music, fashion and motors, Mark 3 Cortinas, Triumph 1300, a Hunter. One minor mistake was a passing train, a class 56 in 1980s Railfreight grey, should have been a blue class 37

It is a good watch, a good series and appears to follow the true story very closely. Annie and I have now watched all four episodes on iPlayer and are part-through the accompanying documentary which we'll finish tonight (if she stays awake this time! ). I was particularly interested in watching it because I was in the first year of my apprenticeship at the Llandarcy Refinery in '78/'79 so knew the locations referred to such as Briton Ferry, Jersey Marine, Port Talbot and of course Llandarcy itself. At the time though I was blissfully unaware of the murders just a few years beforehand and being a 16/17 year old just broken away from the apron strings and 185 miles from home, starting my working life was an education in itself. They've had to use some CGI to recreate the refinery and its cooling towers that I used to walk past as it has now been razed to the ground and redeveloped into a housing estate. The nearby British Steel works at Port Talbot, Margam and Baglan Bay may still exist, I'm not sure, but the style of some of the residences are very similar to the one I stayed in just outside of Skewen. Certainly is well worth the watch. Sam.

I binged watched this today. It's quite good and Mr Glenister is on top form. One minor mistake was a passing train, a class 56 in 1980s Railfreight grey, should have been a blue class 37 Didn't spot that, Carty, though DC Bethel's Trimphone seemed to have a mysterious standard bell ring rather than the famous Trimphone chirp. Also, I think they overdid the dreary brown interior themes in the shots of the 70s houses and some of 2002 houses seemed stuck in 70s decor too. The script, direction and performances were spot on though.

I was totally unaware of this series until I spotted Cartmans post. We will definately be giving this one a watch, as this is type of series my wife and I both like.
Charles.
