I was wondering if someone could help me with a project I'm working on please.
I’m trying to identify the full names and years of birth (and death, if applicable) of all the artists and photographers of all the Christmas covers of the TV Times in time for the magazine’s 70th anniversary in 2025:

I've been filling in my spreadsheet sporadically, and the ones I'm missing are largely from the earliest days from 1956 up to and including 1973:
I've come across the names of four staff photographers: Peter Bolton, who was chief photographer (1935-2014), Rod Ebdon (who I'm currently in contact with), Ron McFarlane (sadly no longer with us but I don't know the year he was born or died) and Paul Stokes (still alive I think but haven't had any contact with him or details about him).
Frustratingly, a lot of the earlier issues didn't credit the photographer, and the 1950s didn't credit anyone at all, not even the editor. I suspect the photographers weren't hired until around 1962, and before that Associated Rediffusion (who owned it outright until 1959, until they formed a subsidiary called TV Publications Ltd), used stock images, but it would still be nice to credit them.
Would anyone happen to know or remember any details about either Ron or Paul (middle name, partner's name, where they lived etc.), or indeed if you have any memory of anyone else who took these earlier covers, or any other contacts who might be able to help, please?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

- 1956 (Two girls watching a TV which says “A Happy Christmas”)
- 1959 (Various faces in baubles – more who did the design than took the photos)
- 1960 (The lost ABC production of “Alice Through The Looking Box”; I found a Getty photo by Monte Fresco, but I believe he worked for The Mirror at the time, not TV Times)
- 1961 (Harry Secombe dressed as Father Christmas; the Santa outfit is added in colour afterwards)
- 1963 (Little girl in prayer)
- 1964 (Little girl receiving a present on behalf of a charity event via the NSPCC and Pat Phoenix called “Pat’s Christmas Tree”)
- 1967 (Choirboys in the parish church of Bierton in Buckinghamshire)
- 1971 (Barbara Murray in a Santa outfit)
- 1973 (Sid James and Barbara Windsor in Christmas outfits)
