Is it just me, or does anyone else on here sometimes do this?
I will pick out some 70s TV or films, eg, The Sweeney, Porridge, early Minder and give it a watch, then dip into my playlists for the appropriate year and retreat into whichever great year it was. I've had a 79 day recently, a couple of episodes of series 1 of Minder, followed by some 79 tracks from my list.
77 last week was an episode of the 1977 series of Van Der Valk, and my spring/summer 77 list.
Tomorrow morning early 78 is earmarked, which will be series 4 Sweeney and more great sounds. To add to the retro feel, I lead through some of the old 70s car bags too!
Keeps the insanity of the modern world out😀

Good idea Carty. I've had a 2 hours drive today and it was strictly a 70s soundtrack all the way. The time just flew by!

Is it just me, or does anyone else on here sometimes do this? In a way. Rather than specific years, I've done similar for times of day. A while back I started watching old 70s episodes of Crown Court during the lunchbreak. Of course, to make it really authentic I should have phoned in sick at sat at home with a bottle of Lucozade, but I'd likely get the sack. Also had an idea to watch some old episodes of Magpie from the Network DVD at the time they would have been broadcast. Actually with the advent of more and more TV from the golden era being available on DVD and via Youtube, together with old TV listings from the time being easier to find, it wouldn't be that hard to recreate. Maybe even pop in an old 9 O'clock news into the playlist and have Robert Dougal read a few headlines of the time A few days ago I read that it's the 50th anniversary of the release of The Wicker Man, so that's earmarked for the DVD player later this week. 72-74 would be a fun one to recreate. You'd have to engineer a power cut during the evening for added authenticity. If you're doing 78 tomorrow, Carty, how about I pop round with a few bags of Golden Wonder and some cans of Long Life (or maybe even a Party Seven) ?
