Austria Another of the Sprint weekends. I just don't get the point of the sprint race. They need to come up with a change to the format as I don't think its very popular amongst fans.
There's always a close field here in qualifying, certainly the top ten has a fag paper between them but both qualifying and the race became a never ending story of track limits. They really need to re-profile turns 9 and 10 to eliminate the constant negative impact the track limit has on the weekend.
Good to see some of the teams improve performance with their upgrades. F1 needs McLaren and Ferrari to be closing the gap. Lando Norris had a good weekend and was my driver of the day.

Lots of surprises in the grid. Perez has another shocker and Lando smashes it.

I have high hopes (however remote the chances) that Lando can cause an upset today. A couple of heavy downpours might throw up a few surprises...

Slightly off topic but if you can, the Sky documentary "Williams/Mansell Red 5" is well worth a watch.

Had a busy day yesterday so rather than post the results here's the highlights of yesterday's action from Silverstone. Might do a review of it later today if I get time, yeah Verstappen won again but a great drive by Norris and Piastri (who deserved 3rd!) in the McLarens and from Lewis Hamilton too in a car that looked a dog on Friday.

The McLaren's have taken a huge step forward and its really rattled the top order. Ferrari and Aston were never bothering the top five. Lando and Piastri both drove really well and deserved their result. Tyre choice seemed to be different amongst the top 10, Hamilton got things right and picked up another podium.
On the Mansell documentary, I saw the preview on Sky and it really does look an interesting watch.

Thanks for pointing this out Steve, I sat and watched that last night instead of the race highlights. It was very good, certainly worth a viewing. I remember being at Brands Hatch for his win in '86, aside from the terrible early crash that ended Jacques Laffite's career if was an incredible day. Sam
