This is an interesting category. I have seen quite a lot of these films (44) from the 1990s. I have enjoyed sharing these posts as it has surprised me to see how many films I have seen and I think it is fun for most people to add up their films. So here goes with the 'best' films of the 1990s.
1990 Goodfellas * Reversal of fortune King of New York Dances with wolves *
Pretty woman * Edward Scissorhands Total recall *
1991 The rapture My own private idaho Thelma & Louise * The silence of the lambs * Terminator 2 * JFK *
1992 Strictly ballroom (An Aussie one - we loved this in Australia) * The player Reservoir dogs * Romper stomper * (early film for Russell Crowe) Glengarry Glen ross Unforgiven * The crying game *
1993 Groundhog day * Short cuts Philadelphia
Jurassic Park * (You always remember where you were when you saw a film - 1993 was the year I was on a huge overseas trip and I remember cars parked everywhere, on the road, park sideways, on the footpath of a cinema in Italy where this was premiering. If I could go back in time I think I'd go back to 1993) The piano * Three colours blue * The wedding banquet Schindler's list
1994
The adventures of Priscilla Queen of the desert * (Aussie film - great costumes & landscape)
Three colours red * Hoop dreams Forrest Gump * The lion king * Four weddings and a funeral * Natural born killers * Pulp fiction * The shawshank redemption * Heavenly creatures Muriel's wedding * (Another Aussie one - I didn't like this film much though Rachel Griffiths and Toni Colette were strong leads)
1995 Babe * (la la la !) Braveheart Toy story * Casino * Heat * Clueless * Seven * The unusual suspects Dead man
1996 Fargo * Shine * (Aussie film) Independence day * Secrets & lies Lone star Trainspotting * Scream *
The English patient *
1997 The ice storm Titanic * L.A. Confidential * (Very short list for 1997)
1998 Saving Private Ryan * Rushmore Run Lola run * (I saw this on tv a few years ago - riveting film) The thin red line
1999 Three kings Magnolia Fight club *
The Blair witch project Being John Malkovich * American beauty * The matrix (I worked in the video/dvd section of a library and this was the most loaned dvd but I never watched it!)

By the 90s I was starting to hear What, you mean you've never seen... ? from people. The ones I have seen from the list make a very small read.
Trainspotting The Crying Game Jurassic Park Thelma & Louise Four Weddings and a Funeral
I'm afraid to say only the first two made any great impression.

I enjoyed looking through these decade lists again Batgirl A few classics featuring on the lists were on over Christmas so I updated my scores in the relevant thread. I wonder if the 1001 movies continued into the new millennium ? If so I bet I scored just as poorly.
