Maybe some of these are your favourites. How many have you seen?
Here are some from the 1960s list in an old copy of '1001 movies you must see before you die'. I have put a * next to the ones that I have seen. I have only seen 30 on this list. They have missed a lot of good films off the list !
I have recently had sick leave off work and watched 'A Raisin in the sun' 1961 film with Sidney Poitier. It should have been on the list!
1960 La Dolce Vita
Saturday Night and Saturday morning Pycho *
The Apartment *
Spartacus *
1961 Splendor in the grass Last year at Marienbad * - Personally I say this is one of the worst films I've ever seen ! I had to watch it for a film studies subject. One Eyed Jacks Lola Breakfast at Tiffany's *

Strange that the '1001 films' book skips some of the 'Best Picture' winners! Film criticism and appreciation is very subjective.

I've only truly watched four of these the whole way through. Seen parts of many of them. I often bump into films on the telly and leave them on after channel hopping. I never get round to watching the whole lot. I watched Planet Of The Apes the other day on BBC 2. I didn't recall watching the first few minutes of the crew aboard the spaceship going into stasis, and then landing in the water. I must of watched the rest of the movie five time What a good movie it is, better than the recent remakes. Charlton Heston is great playing Taylor.
