I know that bikes aren't everyone's cup of tea here on the forum but there are a few members that do or have owned bikes over the years so I thought I'd share my afternoon. The Brooklands Museum today held it's annual Motorcycle Day where: It is the first time that I've attended the event despite intending to visit for a number of years so I "fired up the 550 four" (okay, not quite a Quattro) and rode over to Weybridge for a couple of hours wander around. Beautiful British weather and some nice 'A Road' biking (I deliberately avoided the very, very dull M3 motorway) made the journey very pleasant and a slow wander round the site was the perfect way to while away a Sunday afternoon. With plenty of bikes on display and in no particular order here are the smudges of the bikes that took my fancy today: https://www.instagram.com/p/CfjzQxCqKso https://www.instagram.com/p/Cfjz28nKTV0 https://www.instagram.com/p/Cfj0Ow-qFrn https://www.instagram.com/p/Cfj0ji2Kr2I https://www.instagram.com/p/Cfj0-CkKfnK As can be seen from the second set of images filming was taking place for "Junk And Disorderly" but although I didn't engage with the presenters themselves I did get a good look at Allen Millyard's Kawasaki Z1. The bloke is pure genius when it comes to engineering. The bike shown was originally a 903cc four cylinder Z1 but in his own garage he's changed it to a 1354cc six cylinder. He's done similar with other Kawasakis such as turning a six cylinder Z1300 Kawasaki into a V12, and built a complete bike around a V10 Dodge Viper engine. All in all an afternoon well spent and count me in for the return next year. Sam.

Interesting Sam. I've only ever ridden a bike once, an 80cc Yamaha. I used to know a bloke from the East Lancs Railway who was into bikes and he had a few, a Norton, two BSA s and an MZ.
One of the BSAs, a B31, he seemed to lose interest in and it was in bits, and I thought of making a cheeky offer for it, but didn't

Good write up and pics Sam.
Yeah, I'm not into bikes but I'm interested in hearing about others experiences with them and I do like the look of the ones when I was 17 - 18 years old. That was when the kids at school started to get into the various Suzukis, Kawasakis etc.
You don't see vintage bikes on the road as often as you see vintage cars, IMO.

A lovely day out by the looks of things Sam. Brooklands doesn't disappoint does it! I agree the drive there is quite pleasant too... unlike my drive home from the British GP yesterday with 150,000 fans all wanting to leave the track at the same time!
I'm not into bikes but appreciate the look and sound of some of them. GS550N looking very good amongst the smudges too! Thanks for taking the time to photgraph them all for us and posting them up here.
Gene.

Some very nice bikes there Sam and many thanks for posting them. I've never got into bikes much either, but I do understand and respect the following they have in clubs etc. Nice to see the 60's and 70's bikes.

Just slightly off the subject, The Triumph Bonneville 750 (UGT 31M) featured in The Sweeney episode ‘Taste Of Fear’ is still on the road and doing well. She’s with a knowledgeable owner who knows her history and is rode all over the country. I hope the owner wants to take George Sweeney for a pillion ride one time 😁

It would be interesting to get some more information and pictures for an update if possible. Sam.

I’m on the Oil in Frame BSA/Triumph owners Facebook group and that is where I first saw she was ‘still alive’. A google search also offers up info about her recent status. I could put a message on the Facebook book group and see if the owner would be amenable to sharing photos?
