Although I think the packaging is a tad tacky I saw these the other day and I will certainly be trying to purchase a set... It is odd that there is absolutely no mention of 'The Professionals' on or in or anywhere with regards to the packaging??!! Very odd indeed. uk.corgi.co.uk/products/screen-stars-ford-capri-mk3-3-0-twin-set-cc91990As an aside I have also seen a very nice 'Code 3' version of Doyle's RS2000 from the show... Looks very good and should be available soon!! www.maronline.org.uk/pre-production-professionals-rs2000/I would still like the original version of the Corgi Toys Ford Capri 3.0S (C342) with the figures of Doyle, Bodie and Cowley though!!!

As Corgi are owned by Hornby Hobbies let's hope that they also follow up with a boxed two-car set from Scalextric.
I won't hold my breath while I wait though...
Sam.

I was thinking exactly the same with regards to a Scalextric duo.
I do wish Scalextric had produced a 'The Professionals' set back in 1980 when they released the 3.0S (C117) originally! If only...!!!
We can dream I suppose...

I had looked to spray up a couple of Capris years ago so bought the C2059 and C2060 in plain green and plain blue but alas they are just one of many projects that have been left waiting on the shelves. The Professionals cars could be done though, look at this limited edition Capri: If Hornby Hobbies have the licencing for Corgi I'd have thought that they could also secure the same for Scalextric. So near yet so far... Sam.

Some commentary on the die cast model car groups on the net say that the packaging of these 2 Corgi Vanguards casting Pros Capris isn't very inspiring. With only die hard fans knowing what the cars are modelling but I believe that it would have cost Corgi a tidy (too tidy) sum to use the CI5/Professionals logo on the packaging and they don't have the licence to do so.
They would be a nice pair to go with my Sweeney, and Pros related 1/43 scale cars and I've ordered one of those "Doylemobile" RS2000's too!

Ah yes, Doyle's RS2000, now that is one slotcar that I have managed to buy: It is one of a limited edition of 200 produced by Team Slot. Okay, apologies for the slot cars, back to Corgi. Sam

Strange how Corgi had the rights and/or licencing when they did a reissue of the original (1980, C342) 1/36th scale 3.0S in the late 1990's (with the intricately detailed figurines of Bodie and Doyle)...!!

I think the difference here with Corgi now though is that they're under different management since 1980; The company nearly went into bankruptcy in 1983, but were shortly after saved after a takeover. Nowadays Corgi are under the ownership of Hornby Hobbies who bought them in May 2008 for £8.3 million.
The reissued 1/36 scale Corgi Capri's (with the detailed metal figures) were reissues of the 1980 casting (still have my brothers original silver one), and were brought out in the early noughties.
These latest Capris are the Vanguards 1/43 casting; brought out a few years later. I also have the UOO303T replica from the Vanguards range.

It is a nice purchase to have the two together. Clear box packaging where you can see the cars set on a road would be better but any Professionals fan would get a kick out of that set. I have a silver Capri in my model car collection so won't be looking at buying those two. You never know though, late night shopping online can be tempting.
