Just heard that Beryl Vertue passed away yesterday aged 90. Beryl is no doubt a familiar name to fans of 60s/70s comedy, starting out as a secretary to Eric Sykes and Spike Milligan and later progressing to representing them as their agent along with Galton & Simpson, Johnny Speight and Tony Hancock amongst others.
Beryl later became a film/TV executive producer on The Plank, Up Pompeii, the Steptoe & Son and Alf Garnett films through to Men Behaving Badly and the recent Sherlock series.
