Thought this pilot might be of interest to forum members. It's a LoM time transportation in reverse and is a comedy; the clothing, car, toiletries, dialogue and references are of their time. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m00118tt/mammoth

Thanks for the prompt Stan. I gave this a viewing and must admit it didn't do a lot for me. I like the idea but think it needs some refining before it could become a series. To me the problem was that he appeared to be settled in the current day already, there wasn't that issue of going through trying to recognise people and places or the changes he faced to adapt to modern day life. How did he manage to get his old job back? Why is he back in a Capri and where did he get it from? What about a wife? She'd have aged and possibly remarried so had she technically become a bigamist? There was so much overlooked that could have been introduced to aid the comedy but is now a missed opportunity. Sam

I hadn't heard of Mike Bubbins who plays Mammoth, he does stand up in 70's clothes & presumably his material relates to the 1970's. I think if you were aware of him the show would make more sense, otherwise I think you a bit & wonder what's going on. He's in a similar vein to Matt Berry's Steven Toast character.

Looks like an intriguing concept and I suppose if they had just gone down the road of Mammoth trying to come to terms with the changes over 42 years then it would face accusations of it being a LOM ripoff.
The format reminded me a little of White Gold, the comedy from a couple of years ago set in the 80s about double glazing salesmen. I persevered with that series but it went too much down the road of a parody of the decade and didn't really stick in the memory.
