Seeing as we are so very close to Christmas I thought I'd try and titivate our collective taste buds as it were!!!
What are your festive food memories from days gone by...??
It all seems so easy to get glorious food now (all year round!!) but I remember a time when the food section of the Autumn/Winter Grattan catalogue (et al...!!!!) was a sheer epicurean delight!! There were food stuffs (and beverages of course!) that you would only ever consume at Christmas...
What are your food memories from Christmas' of old...??!!

Royal Game soup was only ever ate at Christmas in our house, I think there is 0.1% game in it. If you didn't want that you had melon.
Dates, never went near these until later in life, I like them as long as they're soft.
My mum used to get a pack of Sobraine cocktail cigarettes most Christmases as a present. Tia Maria was the Christmas drink.
Got a chocolate orange every year.
Don't remember ever having a hamper.

My dad liked getting Brandy Butter to put on the Christmas Puds! Still love it. I know not everyone likes Christmas Pudding, but it depends on which brand you buy or how its been made. I've had a few poor ones (and a burnt one at a restaurant one year..........not good) and some fabulous ones too.
I also get a Stollen in, and the traditional Turkey dinner always goes down a treat I find!
