Does anyone on here remember him? He was brilliant, one of the best broadcaster s ever imo, he has a late night phone in programme on Manchester Piccadilly radio 261 in the late 80s and it was so good I would sometimes stay up listening to it until the early hours.
He was also on a football phone in with Tommy Docherty on Saturdays too, which was equally good. He moved to radio Manchester later, but was got rid of by the hierarchy there on some trumped up reason and I don't think he's on any radio stations any more.
To me, he was part of the fabric of the real Manchester, the cynicism, the dry wit, the Arndale, the orange buses, City at Maine Road, the old pubs, the factories, the crescents, the terraces. Before it became homogenized, sanitised and corporatised and nobodies in suits started telling us how wonderful it is that it's full of ugly, overpriced apartments.
Rant over!

Oh yes - I remember James H. I was out of the receiving area for Piccadilly, but friends would send tapes now and again. He actually brought out a compilation tape of his best rants called "James H Reeve's Nocturnal Emissions" which I still have. He did surface again on some smaller stations before his retirement a few years ago. He posts on Twitter regularly and is worth a follow. He was one of the best of the "shock jocks" that were popular in the 80s. James Whale was probably the best known, but I preferred James H and his rival on neighbouring Red Rose Radio, Allan Beswick ("Ow Do..")

Nocturnal Emissions was brilliant, I sometimes phoned up on it, the tape of the best bits you've got I bet is worth listening to.
I follow James H on Twitter and have exchanged a couple of messages with him

I remember him doing a football show on Radio 5 Live with Tommy Docherty on a Sunday evening called 'Jim and the Doc' in the mid 90s. I think it only lasted for a few weeks or maybe months but it was quite entertaining. Vi

Ah - found a YT link to the cassette compilation that some kind soul has uploaded. There seems to be quite a few of his old Piccadilly/Key 103 shows uploaded too, so you might hear yourself on some of his full shows :)

Yes I remember him though I didn't live in the Manchester area, Allan Beswick & latterly James Whale were the late night talk show hosts I listened to on Radio Lancs or was it Red Rose Radio. I think probably I knew of Reeve through Frank Sidebottom & his Radio Timperley show.
