My favourite Bond theme is 'The Living Daylights' by A-ha. Great theme Vienna. And Maryam d'Abo is my favourite Bond girl The Saint I couldn't agree more, Simon, she's fantastic! I remember her also from 'Leon the Pig Farmer'. Perhaps she should be considered for the '80s fit birds thread Vienna

Yeah-top Bond theme there. The Living Daylights - one of my favourites. I love Live And Let Die, and the other usual suspects (Carly Simon,Sheena Easton). I have a soft spot for Lulu's The Man With The Golden Gun. And let's not forget Louis Armstrong, from OHMSS. Mod Edit :Corrected a minor typo and improved spacing

Yes, I have a liking for Lulu's song. Quite surprising it wasn't a hit single in the UK. Maybe Lulu was seen as a light entertainer and this song leaned towards this?

'Skyfall' sounds like a slowed down 'Diamonds Are Forever', though when you listen to Shirley Bassey you appreciate how much stronger her voice is compare to singers today, nobody, male or female, belts songs out these days.

I hadn't thought of it like that Tiger, but you're right - it does !

Tiger is also correct about the singers belting out their songs. I've thought that about the strength of people's voices for some years now. For me it was made very clear when Tom Jones appeared with EMF singing "Unbelievable".
And the difference between them truly was!
It is probably on YouTube but I can't get that right now, not while I'm still in 1973.

I like 'Live and Let Die' as the best James Bond theme BUT Shirley Bassey's songs in early Bond films are so 'James Bond'. The power of her voice and sultriness just suits perfectly. I'd forgotten that Duran Duran did a Bond theme !

I have a soft spot for Lulu's The Man With The Golden Gun. The problem with "The Man With The Golden Gun" is it's ridiculously full of innuendo. It also relates the whole plot of the film in the first verse and chorus.

When I picked my fav's in an earlier post it occurred to me that I hadn't considered the original This piece of music is fantastic in every way. Its such a great fit for the 007 movies and great how it plays a part in all the films The best of the lot has to be John Barry's theme from Dr No.

Good choice Del, the original is great!
In addition, how about the theme from OHMSS...
