Anyone remember and try a Vesta Curry form the 80's?
I did, they weren't that bad, it was a dehydrated thing I think?

I did back in the 80s and they're still going strong! The company, not the farts.
Great thread 3L
Gene.

Bird's Eye crispy pancakes. A sort of crunchy crust with a filling. I liked them.

You used to be able pork chops with a piece of kidney attached but ever since some cows suffered from that BBC they seem to stop.
Even though it's not moo cows that make pork chops.

Bird's Eye crispy pancakes. A sort of crunchy crust with a filling. I liked them. Crispy Pancakes - with the Cheese filling (which resembled heated up glue) and the Curry filled ones. Wasn't there one with Gravy and something in too?
Remember the "Savory Toasts"? My brother and I used to play Russian roulette with these - where we'd heat them up, take a large bite to see who'd be first to end up with a scolded mouth thanks to the cremated ham inside.

I remember Vesta curries, especially the crispy noodles.
One ready meal I had a lot in the 80's was sweet & sour pork, either Bird's Eye or Findus, it was battered pork balls with boil in the bag sauce & rice. Another boil in the bag delicacy was beef stew & dumpling. I remember my mum used to have boil in the bag cod in butter sauce a lot.
I was forever eating Bernard Matthews turkey burgers & drummers when they appeared. I had a pretty poor diet growing up, mars bars & cans of coke most days, I used to go with my friend on our bikes to the local shop in the evening & buy a king size Mars bar & a can of coke then eat them at the local park. Not had anything 'boil in the bag' since the 80's probably & I stopped eating meat about 20 years ago.
Like most people I expect I remember eating Black Forest gateau a lot, no idea why they went out of fashion. Instant Whip. There was a dessert in the late 80's I'm trying to remember the name of, I think it was an alternative to ice cream, it came in a small tub & was an off white colour, whatever it was I remember eating it a lot. 'Ice Magic', an ice cream sauce that when went hard on ice cream, I remember squirting that on a frozen surface then eating it like a piece of chocolate.
Not had Arctic Roll for years, nor Neopolitan ice cream or any block of ice cream. Not seen those square ice cream cornets you got to put blocks of ice cream either. Another I used to have a lot was Heinz chocolate or golden syrup pudding, I can remember boiling these in a pan. When I think of all that sugar I used to eat it's a wonder I'm still here.
I remember eating pork chops a lot, I don't think I've seen one since the 80's! Another meat product that I've not seen any family members eat for years is mince, looking back it used to stink if not cooked within a few days. We used to feed the dog on boiled mince & boiled liver, terrible smell

Arthur, I remember eating all those things you mention. We did seem to eat a lot of rubbish food back in the 70s and 80s, and kids just seemed to drink pop and nothing much else back then. Vesta curries were awful, although I didn't mind the Chinese one with the crispy noodles. Bernard Matthews stuff was dreadful too!
