I touched on this news briefly on the Ron Moody thread elsewhere before seeing this thread.
Extremely good innings, and extremely good he was active enough to enjoy pretty much all of them. Which I guess is why it still makes this news something of a shock. He always seemed far too robust to succumb somehow. Not yet anyway.
I can't say I've followed his career avidly and he's probably been in more films I'd never ever care to watch than ones I would.
But one film I absolutely adore is The Wicker Man. The proper one obviously. Not only was he absolutely sublime in it, but he stated himself in the commentary that he had such faith in this low-budget production, that he took no fee for his role.
Old school. An absolute gent.
RIP Sir Christopher.

One of the greats of cinema. I loved him in those Hammer films. (Rasputin was one of my favourites.) I didn't know he was in his ninties though. Really great that he had such a long life. R.I.P.

Only recognised Christopher Lee as Dracula, really. But with me being a huge, huge Macca fan,I knew him best as one of the gang on the cover of 'Band On The Run'.And also as Scaramanga, goes without saying.
Legend. The man carried such an aura,he was so obviously very good at what he did.Rest in peace, mate.

Just been watching Christopher on youtube in This Is Your Life. It was done in 1974. Peter Cushing and Vincent Price were in attendence. Class acts the three of them. R.I.P.

Extraordinary life he led & interesting to watch his 'This Is Your Life' with people like Trevor Howard & Sammy Davis, there really are no stars like these people around anymore, he is possibly the last of his kind having appeared in about 300 films. His stand-in for years was the stuntman Eddie Powell who made a few appearances in 'The Sweeney'. He made a televised hole in one on a Pro Celebrity Golf Contest, also remember seeing him on tv as a judge on Miss World in the 90's.
On a selfish note my brother went to a bookshop signing of his autobiography a few years ago & gave me the copy for my birthday. A pity I sold it on ebay last year as it's going for silly prices now that he's gone.

Interesting snippet there Arthur. A shame you didn't hang on to that book !
You are spot on though. There are few stars of this calibre left now. The end of an era.
Gene.

Funny, but I always think of this person whenever Christopher Lee is mentioned She is always in, except when she's out!
