With the forthcoming Fury Road movie coming out next week just thought it appropriate to create a thread and poll about the Mad Max movies. Of the original three my personal favourite is the second film The Road Warrior with the original Mad Max coming a very close second. Wasn't too arsed about the Beyond Thunderdome one. It's okay but sort of loses its way mid point and WTF was Tina Turner doing in it except bringing a bit of 'Holllywood' too something which didn't really need it. Hoping to see Fury Road next week so will post some more after I've seen it. Just hope it's more like the first two than the Thunderdome but if it's anything like the trailer hopefully it will be a good one. Anyone else a fan of the Mad Max films?

I saw all three when they were first released and never did see them again. Something I ought to correct soon...
My choice from my preference at the time was Mad Max 2.

Got around to seeing Fury Road on Saturday and generally felt it wasn’t a bad effort if perhaps not living up to the hype and also not being in the same league as the first and second films. Tom Hardy’s Max was virtually indistinguishable from the Mel Gibson Max (I thought he was better being honest) and Hugh Keays Byrne (Toecutter in Mad Max) was absolutely excellent as Immortan Joe. Charlize Theron’s was fairly alright-ish too as Furosia too although felt there were one too many shades of Alien’s Ripley in her character. It is for me much more of a natural connection and prequel/sequel to Mad Max/Mad Max 2 than the Thunderdome ever was and it certainly has the feel of George Miller being given total freedom to make the film how he wanted rather than how the studio or focus groups wanted it. A few minor gripes are a few far fetched Action/CGI sequences but overall I’d rate it a good 8/10 and would sooner see this over the current crop of Hollywood action flicks out there at the moment. Fully recommend seeing it even if you only have a vague likening of the Mad Max saga’s.
