I was still at school when Channel 4's so-called 'red triangle' season of foreign films was on in 1986. I think I watched a couple of them, the French film in the trailer below 'Themroc' was criticised by the National Viewers And Listener's Association ( Mary Whitehouse & co ) for showing a policeman being killed & eaten. The film is actually a black comedy & like the other films in the season isn't particularly offensive, certainly not by today's standards.
During this period I was watching 'alternative comedy' shows such as 'Saturday Live' hosted by Ben Elton & featuring Stavros, The Dangerous Brothers, etc. I had a portable tv in my room, this sort of thing wasn't family viewing.
This was a funny p*** take of it.

I saw a guy with a type of mini handheld steadcam for his iphone in Hyde park recently. You can also get A Wide Angle and Zoom lense to stick on the back of your phone too.

On the subject of Video Nasties...
Does anyone remember "Creepshow" - an early George Romero film? It was made in 1982 - but am unsure if it even made the cinema, but went "straight to video". I think it was one of the first Horror type films I had seen as a kid.
It was made up of 3 or 4 different stories, in comic book fashion - and each story would have a big name in the lead role. In one story was Ted Danson, and another was Leslie Neilson - I can't recall who else was in it.
But Neilson - played a villian - and suprisingly quite sinister too. A far cry from Frank Drebbin!
I used to have Creepshow on pre certificate VHS, also had the comic book version of it. Stephen King's son played the little boy in the linking story ( King himself stars in one of the stories ). I was a big fan of George Romero in my teens, rented Dawn Of The Dead countless times from the video shop. In fact his film 'Martin' was shown in about 1985/6 on Channel 4, first time I'd seen it & definitely the goriest film I'd seen on tv.
Speaking of horror films, Channel 4 had a season of Universal films ( Frankenstein, Dracula, The Mummy, etc. ) in the 80's. I think they even had triple bills of films ( unthinkable today ) with the original trailers acting as continuity. Seeing those films as a teen had a big effect. The BBC & ITV also used to have regular horror film seasons, the film seasons on ITV could last as long as 6 months. ITV would also have seasons of French films ( dubbed in English rather than subtitled ) under the banner 'Le Continental', most of these films were crime thrillers starring Alain Delon.
Yes, Arthur, Channel 4 had a season of Universal horror films during early 1986, usually on a Saturday night from memory. I'm more of a fan of British horror these days; of course several British actors appeared in the early Frankenstein movies, such as Boris Karloff, Colin Clive and Elsa Lanchester. It was great to see them for the first time as a teenager back then

Was it Channel 4 that did a program in the early 80s about the world worst films which highlighted Plan 9 from Outer Space with Bela Lugosi?

Another film of an adult nature I remember watching as a youngster is 'Animal House'. Pretty sure my dad had something to say about the f words in it, specifically a scene where a girl is passed out on a bed & a man is urged to 'f__k her brains out' by a devil in his head. F words were rare on tv in those days, hearing one on tv was like a bomb going off.
