That kerb can't be right if it launches you like a Harrier off HMS Ark Royal.

The sausage curb itself seemed to be destroyed on impact too. I'm sure there'll be an inquiry into it as it's incomprehensible to think it's something that could happen again in any formula. Peroni was running wide and not strictly on the track but that curb was in an area where a driver could easily find himself if in the slipstream of another car. I can't see the necessity of it given how wide the track is at that point and the gravel trap beyond. It certainly has no deceleration benefit.
I'm just watching F1 qualifying and it appears the sausage curb has been removed.

An exciting grid line up for tomorrow, but a shambolic Q3 session which sees all drivers under investigation.

Before the Singapore race starts, just a summary of Monza results. Track: Autodromo Nazionale Monza 1 C. Leclerc Ferrari 2 V. Bottas Mercedes 3 L. Hamilton Mercedes 4 D. Ricciardo Renault· 5 N. Hülkenberg Renault 6 A. Albon Red Bull 7 S. Pérez Racing Point 8 M. Verstappen Red Bull 9 A. Giovinazzi Alfa Romeo 10 L. Norris McLaren 11 P. Gasly Toro Rosso 12 L. Stroll Racing Point 13 S. Vettel Ferrari 14 G. Russell Williams 15 K. Räikkönen Alfa Romeo 16 R. Grosjean Haas 17 R. Kubica Williams 18 K. Magnussen Haas DNF 19 D. Kvyat Toro Rosso DNF 20 C. Sainz Jr. McLaren DNF The crowd certainly goes wild when a Ferrari driver makes the podium in Italy. Leclerc's first result was (in my opinion) a fitting result based on his bitter sweet first in Belgium the previous week. The tragedy of Hubert's death in FP2 in Belgium was difficult for all drivers but a win doesn't really feel like a win when you are mourning someone you'd grown up with racing. I was surprised that Leclerc wasn't penalised for crowding Hamilton at Lap 23 forcing him partly off the track ! A warning seems a rather minor penalty for this action. I was pleased the Ricciardo managed a 4th for Renault and surprised that Vettel's year continues to be be full of mistakes.

I really enjoyed Monza and fortunately we had a good race after the debacle that was Qualifying. Charles was on the edge running Hamilton out but I think no penalty was the right decision. The Verstappen - Leclerc battle at the A1 ring earlier this season wasn't given a penalty so there seems consistency. Hamilton was a bit cheesed off about it after but he himself has done the exact same thing on many an occasion over the years especially against Rosberg. Vettel used to do this kind of thing to Webber also. Schumacher used the tactic with devastating effect on occasion.

Vettel used to do this kind of thing to Webber also. Schumacher used the tactic with devastating effect on occasion. The only difference between Monza and the A1 ring being the actual speeds involved. Any driver would have complained about being run off the track at 200MPH and rightly so. Vettel was rightfully punished for his absurd return to track in Monza. No driver of his experience should have made such a dangerous move. I'm disappointed with Vettel and have been for some time. He is not the driver he used to be that's for sure. Leclerc is running rings around him at the moment, and today's qualifying in Singapore is no exception... though he did do better than Bottas, who seems to have lost the plot altogether. I think Mercedes may be ruing the decision to retain him for next year. Today's qualifying form has ignited the remainder of the season with Ferrari performing so well on a track not expected to suit their car. With Hamilton splitting the two red cars we may be in for a great race. That said, I think the cars have finished in quali positions for the past few years given the tracks Monaco like opportunities to overtake. Gene.

A good appraisal Gene. Hopefully some drama will occur tomorrow to spice things up. This season has been great. The start was a merc dominated affair since then we've had so many great races.
