Some interesting news from Red Bull is they’ve promoted Alexander Albon into the senior team and moved Pierre Gasly back to Toro Rosso.

I’m a bit 50/50 about this as yes Gasly hasn’t really performed and has looked uncomfortable in the car this year compared to Verstappen but is the time right and Albon right to replace him at RB and kind of makes a mockery of RB’s claims from Christian Horner and Helmut Marko they were going to keep Gasly to the end of the season. I suppose though between the lines they were going to do this – link.

They’ve been here before with Daniil Kvyat who’s confidence was severely knocked out of him when he was demoted from RB in 2016 and messed around there after. Just hope Gasly doesn’t end up the same way as this season aside he’s a good prospect and could do well with a different team. Perhaps these team clique’s based around a few teams and manufacturers like Ferrari, Mercedes, Renault, Red Bull etc. aren’t necessarily a good thing for the drivers as they build them up in their academies only to ditch them when the results don’t quite go their way or they don’t quite gel as long term prospects in these teams. A few decades ago you could have drivers who had absolutely stinker seasons with a team and then move elsewhere more freely than they do now and next season come back refreshed and turn out some decent results – Piquet and to a lesser extent Prost and Mansell etc. all benefited from such an approach a few decades ago.
That was a surprise ! It is true that Gasly hasn't looked or sounded as if he had settled in at Red Bull. I think they should have given him more time, at least until the end of the season. Brutal business is F1 !

That was a surprise. I guess it ultimately comes down to the Red Bull being a race winning machine and ergo Gasly should be achieving better results. The boy Albon has done well up to now so deserves a chance I agree with your earlier comments Batgirl re Hamilton being made to earn a win. He and Mercedes deserved the win last time out so full marks to them. It could be argued that RedBull made a mistake in not boxing on the next lap to cover Mercs strategy but that's racing. Merc's have had way too many easy rides over the last three seasons mainly because Ferrari have been a joke on and off the track. Hopefully the second half of the season is as competitive as the last few races.

Glad it's back. Looking forward to some more good racing. Be interesting to see what Albon can do.

Shocking.
He stood no chance by the look of it, T boned at great speed, no amount of built in safety features can prevent that.
