Does anyone remember this TV programme starring Benedict Taylor? It was compulsive viewing when I was a teenager although I really think I was the only one who watched it within my circle of friends. Partly due to the blond haired, cute Benedict (first major crush) and partly because it was such an 'adult' childrens drama. I can't for the life of me remember how it ended though and I'm not even sure if it was ever released on DVD but I do remember how much it affected me. www.imdb.com/title/tt0184252/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_52

I remember it but can't remember too much about it unfortunately, only that the chap was adopted and he was looking for his real family. There is quite a bit of the series on Youtube but's it's uploaded in segments rather than whole episodes. I can't find any details of it ever being released on tape or DVD.

I remember this vaguely but only as some of it was filmed in my neck of the woods. We used to spend the time watching for local landmarks rather than following the story.

I recall it being on Sunday afternoons on ITV, and the opening title sequence stuck in my memory.

Debbie, I came across it on youtube a couple of years ago, as Gene says someone added both series in many parts. As the memorable opening titles & music ( one of the most haunting tv themes ever I think ) played it came back to me so I must've seen some of it when it was on originally though I was only 10/11 at the time, or maybe it was repeated & I saw it then. For a teenager's show it is high quality stuff, shot entirely on film & with a script as good as an adult drama. I downloaded all the parts about 2 years ago but for some reason I haven't watched the last couple of episodes. The theme music is what hooks you in, it really is superb. Drama for children or teenagers doesn't seem to exist anymore. What happened to Childrens BBC & ITV in the afternoons? Or tv for schools? They just disappeared. Another really good drama serial for children was 'Break In The Sun' from 1981. www.curiousbritishtelly.co.uk/2015/06/break-in-sun.html

Yes I do remember Barriers although I've not seen it again since its first transmission and I was 9 or 10 at the time. My parents liked watching it with me on the Sunday afternoons it came one. A rather grim theme tune and opening titles I seem to remember with flashback to 1963 and the Communist border guard soldiers machine gunning the fintail Mercedes car, which the baby Billy was travelling in when his Father leaped out with the baby before it crashed and exploded. I can't quite remember the conclusion either but I remember it was an ongoing back story all through the series with some episodes having some self contained stories but each one at the end seem to give "Billy" the main character (I think he was meant to be 17/18) a reminder about his situation with the different people he met. Then there were some eps that were a bit more deeper about his situation with characters from his past turning up I think.
I vaguely remember Benedict Taylor (lead actor) in a drama about Beau Geste which was BBC made I think (Jonathon Morris - Adrian in sitcom "Bread" played his brother) and something else but not sure if he's still acting much now.
And yes I remember Break in the Sun well - from 1981. Also starred Brian Hall as the main schoolgirl characters dad. Never missed a part when that was on.
