There used to be a bloke at a place where I worked for a few months who had 3 syrups. He would wear syrup one for about a month and then go on to syrup 2 which was about an inch longer and after about a month onto syrup 3 which was an inch longer again. He would then go back to syrup 1!

One actor whose hairpieces were actually pretty convincing was Christopher Lee, though oddly enough the pieces he wore later in life were more detectable, you'd think wig technology would've improved but it seems modern wigs are more obvious than ever.
There's a company called Advanced Hair Studio endorsed by some high profile sportsmen, usually cricketers. Their ads have been described as misleading as they make it seem like they offer treatments that promote hair growth when in fact all they do is manufacture & fit hairpieces.

The glue they use hasn't advanced much either. There's a chap in the office who wears a syrup and often comes to work wearing a hat. I've lost count of the number of times he's taken the titfer off and the Irish with it and stuck both on a hat peg without noticing immediately.

Where I last worked there was a bloke whose hair just looked like a syrup. Every few months he'd say he was off of a lunchtime for a wash and trim up. He got a bit snotty with me one time when I asked him if they did it "While U Wait" Sam.

What a motley collection of mops. Has the man no shame? Here's another ludicrous Irish sported by non other than Chuck Norris. It's not even on straight! Why doesn't someone tell him honestly how it looks. Because he's Chuck Norris, that's why !

Here's another ill conceived syrup. Frankly I'd rather be seen bald than to be seen modelling this. The Stan Baker special.

He seems an unlikely character to be wearing a wig but I suppose some actors just don't suit a bald head & have to do it to maintain their career. John Wayne being another. I think this monstrosity is from 'The Last Grenade' with John Thaw but he also wore what looks like the same one in Michael Winner's 'The Games' made about the same time. Below is from Winner's autobiography-

At least Stanley admitted to donning an oil rig. Interesting you mention John Wayne too. He had a wide and varied selection of toppers which he showed off in films from as early as 1948. Here he is sporting one in the 1967 film Eldorado. Not bad for an Irish I suppose. Even better for whoever copped for it after the Duke chucked it in the bin. The hairpiece above fetched in excess of a grand when auctioned in 2010. Punters were tempted by this picture. Gene.
