A great channel though I think they'd improve it by ditching the old cinema style presentation & the silly 'thank you for watching talkingpicturestv' voiceover.
They've started using 70's 'Pearl & Dean' type clips which work better, I think the audience is probably between 40 & 60 years old rather than the 'Countdown' demographic that they seem to be aiming at. The content is getting more diverse, it's not all black & white films any longer. The constant Dormeo ads are annoying as well.

Love the fact that it's a father & daughter operation controlled from what looks like a room in someone's house. It's the best channel on tv hands down & exposes how little archive tv & film, particularly British tv & film, is shown on other channels. Channel 4 used to show old British films regularly during the day, ITV would have seasons of mostly British horror films, BBC would often show them, now you're lucky to see one a year on the BBC & ITV never show them.

Interesting article Charles, thanks for posting I knew it was a small set-up, but didn't know it was run from their house! The Saint I'm sure Gene would find running a TV channel from a house a doddle, with his expertise. Interesting that this type of thing can be done though. Obviously they must do it via an internet connection?

Years ago there was a satellite channel devoted to an unknown UK female singer, if you can believe it all it showed was a promo video of her endlessly repeated. It was set up by her husband/boyfriend iirc in order to promote her career. I remember reading an article about it & how much it cost to broadcast the channel, I think it was £1,000 a day.
Talkingpicturestv must have some kind of deal with Network & possibly Powerhousefilms ( another UK dvd/blu ray company ) as I notice in recent times they show a lot of films & tv shows released by both companies.
