I should give Hazell a look, for whatever reason I never fancied it at the time but can't remember why.

For those of you who have never watched this classic 1970s series, it starts on TPTV on 8th November Vi Blimey Vi - I had forgotten about this one!
The last I saw of Hazell was a clip on "TV Heaven" on Channel 4 during the early 1990s.
Didn't know Terry Venables had a hand in on this. He (and his brother "Tiny" - AKA the Venables Brothers) were associates of Joe Sylvester and Kray 'henchman' Tony Lambrianou during the late 50s & early 60s. Yet another crossover of proper Villians and TV!
I'll be tuning in to this.
Sparky, both series were released on DVD by Network around 2010; an interview with Nicholas Ball is also included. As Arthur mentions in his post above, a lot of it was shot on videotape so it does look cheap by today's standards, but an enjoyable watch in my humble opinion.

I must have missed the Network DVD releases too. Mind you, in 2010 I was well out of the loop!!! I'll tune in, might look at getting the DVDs too.

Didn’t know of the criminal connection Sparks. You must drink in the wrong pubs! Or read the wrong books!!!
I've bumped into Steve Wraith quite a few times - he had something to do with the Kray empire in the North East during the time they were locked up. His books are always worth a read.
These days Steve he writes books and works as an actor/extra & stuntman.

You were doing a short stretch for being the wireman on a blag just north of the river weren't you! Tasty tickle.

I've not seen Hazell but heard some mixed things about it so never really thought about getting it, to be fair can't really say it's good or bad till I've seen it so may try and catch this one if I can.
Some fairly good drama's being shown on TPTV right now putting both ITV3 and Drama to shame with there same-old recycled output big time right now.

I like John Thaw but never really got in to Morse/Kavanagh QC, can’t put my finger on it but just doesn't pull me in like The Sweeney continues to do. I feel the same way about John too Steve, brilliant actor and no denying Morse etc. is a great piece of TV production but it's never really interested me all too twee, genteel and po-faced for my liking.
Now give me John, Dennis some villains and a Ford Granada...

In fact... in 1974... I was at a stock car race; and a bank blag happened to be going on next door.
Someone nicked a multi-meter from the factory I was on day release at, it had my dabs on it. Then one day two guys in a brown Granada rolled up, one thought I did it and hauled me in for questioning and the other wasn't so sure....

The bit I don't quite understand is much of their output are ITV series - so why haven't ITV3 or ITV4 showed them in the first place. I am assuming that the series shown on TPTV may be regarded as a little too "niche" for the mainstream ITV stuff? Or is that just me?
Does anyone know if "Softly Softly - Task Force" or "Target" was ever repeated? Both series I would like to see as they are always mentioned in any interview regarding the "Sweeney". I doubt they were the same - though just interesting to see.

I’d like to some Softly Softly again. Liked the Barlow and Watt characters.
