You've just given me a flashback with that Sparky.
Not only the dancing plants there were also the dancing Coke cans, remember those?
Where I worked at the time one of the other engineers had a dancing Coke can on top of his bookcase. One of the elder secretaries used to find it hilarious to sing to it and make it gyrate every single time she walked past which was annoying as her voice was like Vienna getting strangled.
That was until the day when I bought a can of Coke and between me and the other engineer we replicated the dancing can's headphones, sunglasses and punched holes in the back then placed that on the bookcase instead. Knowing that at 2pm every day she'd walk by on her way to the kitchen we moved to the other side of the office and waited. She must have been wailing at it for nigh on ten minutes before we finally walked back, p***ing ourselves laughing, put the imposter in the bin and the correct dancer back up in its rightful place on the bookcase.
She did eventually see the funny side of the joke but never tried singing at the can again.
Sam.
The Dancing Plants were all the range in the late 80s.
I think a drink Advert was even made using one.
Was there also am irritating rubber singing fish on a wooden plaque?
Or was that some obscure dream I had after a few Real Ales?
Big Mouth Billy Bass was the singing fish-

They used the 'Billy Bass' well in The Sopranos mind.

Yeah - I've seen those; aren't they on a par with those "Dancing Plants" you used to get (the ones with Sun Glasses on). You've just given me a flashback with that Sparky.

Nice one Sam you had me in stitches with that mate.

'Peter Kay Comedy Genius In His Own Words' on Channel 5 this evening, 2 hours of talking heads doing the usual thing of describing clips ( presumably for the benefit of the blind ) & telling us repeatedly how amazing Peter Kay is. You'd think the guy had just snuffed it but in fact Kay himself had nothing to do with the programme & even complained that the title was 'misleading' on his twitter.
There was a similar arse licking fest on Michael Buble recently. I came away thinking that Christmas was about the birth of Michael Buble rather than Jesus. He took time out from his career to look after his son with cancer, can you believe that?! As for Peter Kay, he had the genius idea of setting a comedy in a bingo hall because he once worked in a bingo hall. Incredible. And can you believe it, he based some characters in his comedies on people he knew!! Now that is genius, basing a character on a person.

I've just watched the Peter Kay programme and it was just that. Kay can be very funny at times, but he's a bit hit and miss, he's done a couple of things which I didn't find funny at all, that stuff about the Northern Irish X factor singer I didn't like, and Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere I thought was rubbish. On the other hand, Phoenix Nights and Car Share were brilliant.

Totally agree with what you say there Cartman.
I don't think Kay has done anything for the last two years or so has he? I think he cancelled a tour for some reason. There were rumours that he had some family matters to deal with, but there might have no truth in that. I think that car share series was the last thing he done, I remember watching a few minutes of one episode, and I found the woman slightly annoying so I didn't continue with it.

I'd heard he'd cancelled tours following a serious illness within the Family. Saying that - in his recent show on TV, he didn't look that well himself.

I cannot stand it when you purchase something from the internet and are then bombarded with e-mails asking you to review the product/company that sold it. Unfortunately, you have to give them an e-mail address and that's where they get you!! If you don't respond, you get reminders too.
Everyone (well not everyone but you get my gist) craves likes these days, even businesses.

If I buy anything online now I use the webmail account address, and that way it's easier to filter out the crap and block it.
I thought they had stopped all this with that GDPR thing that came in last year?
It's the same if you return an item to a store in person, they want every single detail they can find before they consider a refund or replacement - and then bombard you with crap through the post.

On a similar note, another thing that makes me angry is that companies automatically assume that everyone is connected to the internet and that they are "internet savvy".
For Manuals / Instructions / Customer Service (aside from the premium phone lines) customers are pushed to "sort it out online". So, if it's your computer - you are stuffed to get on the internet - anyway!
I have found that a lot of the Customer Service websites are about as helpful as a hole in a boat - and are designed to make it hard to complain or receive any technical support - making you just go round in circles.
When asked - "Do I have Skype, Facebook" and all that - and tell them "No". Customer services look at me as if I have just landed here in 2020 from from somewhere like 1973 (something very familiar about that...)
Regarding instruction manuals - I was told by one manufacturer that they produced all of their Instructions in PDF format - available online - as they were "saving the environment" through saving paper. That I can understand...
Though, the package my item came in - was delivered from Germany (a flight to London), moved from London to Sheffield (via Road), delivered to my House by Royal Mail (In a van). The box it arrived in was too big for the item, that was wrapped in miles of Bubble Wrap and the box filled with polystyrene chunks.
Inside the box, each individual component (stand/Leads/adaptors) was in it's own plastic bag.....
And they want to save the enviroment.....
Incidentally - the instructions were not available via their website.
