Not a lot of people know..... The house in the 1967 film "Robbery" where Stanley Baker's character "Paul Clifton" lives with wife "Kate" (Joanna Pettet) was actually Stanley's real house at the time of filming. It was No 7 Queensmere Road, Wimbledon and was demolished just a few years later for redevelopment. Gene. As well as using his own house in Robbery Baker drove his own Bentley S3 saloon in the film, complete with added 'spirit of ecstacy' mascot on the radiator to p*ss off Rolls Royce owners. Villain

I love Perfect Friday. Stanley plays slightly against type in this clever heist film, and it's always been one of my fave SB films. It's been enjoyable reading members comments and it makes you want to dig out Stanley's old films. I believe Harold Wilson was due to nominate him for a knighthood circa 1975/76. EDIT: He was in fact Sir Stanley Baker.

That TV Times article/interview with Stanley was really good Athur. I loved reading it. What a great magazine it was in it's heyday, as I said once before my family used to get it every week, and I read it even as a kid.
I'm glad that Stanley achieved all that success and wealth, I knew he had something to do with producing Zulu, but I wasn't aware that he was that big in the business.
Pity Stanley fell so far short of his hopes to keep on acting till his nineties.
Thanks for uploading the piece, it revealed a lot about Stanley Baker the man.
Charles.

Thanks Charles Very young age to die albeit as a result of heavy smoking, he looks older than his 46 years on the TV Times cover, though it seems everyone looked 10 years older in those days. I didn't know his son Glyn was an actor, appearing in The Wild Geese, Who Dares Wins & Return Of The Jedi. Certainly got his dad's features.

I didn't know Stanley's son was an actor. I remember seeing The Wild Geese at a cinema years ago.
Stanley himself would have been good in that film.
Charles.
