An enjoyable film, based on a true story of an orphaned family who wish to stay together. Directed by David Hemmings and starring Jack Wild.

Funny to see Lou Beale take over from Dot Cotton! Or the Anthropoid replace the Tripehound if you're a Sweeney fan. I'd not heard of this film until Network released it, similar to 'Our Mother's House', another film about a houseful of children fending for themselves.

This excellent BBC documentary 'The Big Screen' from 1973 covers the making of various films including 'Live And Let Die', 'The Final Programme' & others but mostly centres on 'The 14'. There is some brilliant footage here showing the work that goes into creating a film, it's the best documentary of its type I've seen. Whatever you do, don't miss the part featuring the wrap up party for 'The 14'. Great footage of London of the period & what was showing at the cinema, including some film of the premiere of 'The Offence' with Stanley Baker & others attending. You can watch it on iplayer, it's on youtube as well but the sound goes wrong for a few minutes towards the end. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p05bxp0b/tuesday-documentary-the-big-screen
