I was wondering what everyone's favourite lines were from any of the series?
My favourite line come from the best ever section of the series when the lads have just moved in to Thornley Manor. Moxey had just got his new identity and had asked the others to refer to him by his new name.
Later that night when Barry was off for a slash in the bog, he found the door locked and Moxey occupying the khazi. After looking back down the corridor and seeing the 'ghost' Barry stutters "Moxey, I've just seen a ghost!" to which Moxey's brilliant reply was:
"BRENDAN! I've just seen a ghost BRENDAN!"
It cracks me up every time.
Sam.

Suppose Oz's classics 'HAS THAT BASTARD GIVEN IN YET DENNIS!' and 'FART IN AN ASTRONAUT SUIT!' take some beating.

Yes, one of the best lines in AWP Sam. Dennis, after Oz's watch has been stolen says 'it wasn't a very special watch was it?' to which Oz replies- 'it worked underwater Dennis'. Oz- 'She lives in Munchen, that's near Munich apparently' Some great dialogue in Barry's discussion about dreams- Barry- 'Dreams reveal the psyche' Moxey- 'the what?' Barry- 'the psyche' Moxey- 'what's that?' Barry- 'it's what dreams reveal innit!' Barry- 'the term 'guinea pig' is metaphorical right, they use real human beings...or students' Barry- 'Ar, she might not be a preordained phenomenon, but she aint half got lovely bosoms'. So many other great bits of dialogue. Barry- 'Do you want that last prawn ball?'

Just seen a news item on Gibraltar which reminded me of Oz's view of the place- 'Gibraltar, like Filey with chimpanzees'

Barry & Moxey watching the adult video- Barry- 'This is what you want us to invest in?' 'It's depraved, its despicable!' Moxey- 'It's grotesque...count me in Oz'.

One of my favourites along with Barry ' s "do you want to come back to our Hut" in his Black Country accent is a scene from series 2 when the lads are waiting to use the toilet in the Barley and Oz makes a comment about eating curries and how fast they go through and says why don't we just cut the middle man out and sling it straight down the bog.
There's just so many aren't there ?

What's striking about the BBC shows is how few memorable lines there are, I think the only line I can remember was something quite profound Brenda said to Dennis- 'Women meet up to discuss their problems, men meet up to get away from their problems'.

Think the only other memorable line from the BBC series was Oz's "Fine by me as long as you don't come from Sunderland!" line to the gangmaster, even that wasn't that great (clichéd) either. If Clement/La Frenais were heavily involved in the scripts for those series (suspect not) they blotted an otherwise very good copybook there.

A great line by Barry in 'Home Thoughts From Abroad'
Barry- 'Where did you say the restaurant was Bomb?' Bomber- 'Hoffburg Strasse near the library, Der Khyber I think it's called' Barry- 'Ar, Der Khyber, right...is that the name of the restaurant or the library?'
