I tried to do a mini Carry On location tour in Ealing about eighteen months ago, during a weekend in London, but I made a little navigation error, so I abandoned the idea as I was a bit shattered anyway due to an early rise that day. I would definately have another go someday though.

I caught one of the early films on the box last week which I hadn't seen for years, 'Carry On Cabby', watching it I thought what a great little industry British film making used to be. The early films have a charm all of their own and alongside other non Carry Ons of the period like Peter Sellers' 'Wrong Arm Of The Law' and 'Two Way Stretch', are always worth repeated viewings.

I agree. I can watch the old stuff all day long.

My fave is Carry On At Your Convenience. Seemed to capture the true essence of the 70s so well. A location tour sounds like a great idea - count me in!

I think of the core "Carry On..." team I think it is only Barbara Windsor and Jim Dale that are still with us.
Beyond them, Julian Holloway is a semi-regular who is still very much with us.
There are others, but they tend to be from the earliest b&w films, or the final ones, which were not scripted by Talbot Rothwell.
In this respect, JH is a noted survivor from the films when they were at their peak.

I love the carry on films, and hopefully someday I will visit a few of the locations where they were shot. Carry on Matron, Carry on Screaming, and carry on Again Doctor are my favourites. I see Jim Dale is doing a one man show this Summer in the West End, I'd love to see him, he was brilliant in the Carry on series, but it would be a bit pricey staying overnight. Very much looking forward to the documentary over the Easter weekend on ITV 3 Carry on Screaming is my favourite too Bronson. Some great one liners and superb performance by Harry H Corbett.

Dan Dann: Alright then, trousers.

Saw an interesting documentary from 2018 on Sky Arts yesterday, 'The Undiscovered Kenneth Williams', featuring clips I've never seen before including a sketch in a tube train with Kenneth sat next to Dave Prowse of all people.
According to the documentary only 20% of his diaries were published. They're kept under lock & key by the British Library, no one is permitted to read them as they contain entries concerning public figures deemed too sensitive for public consumption.
Not sure whether it's being shown again soon, I think you can watch it on Sky Art's website if you're a Sky subscriber. There was another programme 'The Undiscovered Peter Cook' made in 2016 by the same people. Also Tony Hancock & Peter Sellers.
Clips from this edition of the Electric Theatre Show were shown-
