Chocolate bars do seem smaller than they were a few years ago, but then I suppose 40 years later with more focus on healthy eating and companies eager to make bigger profits we can't really expect things to be the same as they were. I can't really remember what they tested like back then either Vi Cats shouldn't be eating chocolate ! It's bad for them. Stick to your high protein diet of fish and meat Vienna. He's also partial to dangerous liquids that aren't good for him too like Milk Stout Batgirl.

Just watched a yt video about shrinking crisp packets in the oven, can't think why I've not thought of doing it before! Actually I do remember my nephew or niece doing something similar, not crisp packets but some disc made of shrinkable plastic. I think they had a design on them that was only visible properly once it had been heated. Funny you mention Fry's Five Centre as I was watching the video below for Fry's Chocolate Cream earlier on. I dont recall a bar with 5 centres, but my mum used to buy Fry's Chocolate Cream regularly, more of a woman's chocolate bar if there is such a thing. I think the woman in the ad is Marianne Stone, she has 261 film & tv credits on imdb & was in the Guinness Book Of Records for the most film credits of any British actress.

I blame Rupert Rigsby for my bad diet, Batgirl. Miss Jones does try and feed me properly, at times Vi

Arthur, it does look like Marianne Stone in the chocolate cream advert. She did appear often in many TV shows/films etc.,including several Carry On's. I didn't realise she held a record for acting credits.

Two pages already of talk about chocolate. I remember as a kid that there was a delicious wonderous chocolate bar called Fry's Five Centre. It had five different coloured fillings ! My Nanna would sometimes buy them. Being very young the name confused me. My Mum once told me that I had headed off down the milk bar (local corner shop in English 'speak') with 5 cents expecting to be able to buy one. Nowadays I quite fancy a cherry ripe with dark chocolate. Or maybe fruit and nut in chocolate. Taste definitely changes as you get older. When I was a kid I liked the white milky chocolate. Now I think the white milk chocolate tastes like soap ! Nowadays I quite fancy a cherry ripe with dark chocolate or maybe fruit and nut in chocolate. Hmm I've said that already but worth saying twice. Nothing in the cupboard at the moment unfortunately. I dont remember these Batgirl.. just the peppermint ones which are, I think still going.. pretty sure they used to be wrapped in silver foil followed by a paper rapper! unlike the ones now.. a guess back in the day probably most choc was rapped in foil.. but these look so tasty!

I remember Frys Five Centre very well, for some reason I always remember getting it on Sundays. I don't know why that was, anyway, It was one of my favourite chocolate bars as a kid. Do they still make them now?

I just checked up on The Fry's Five Centre chocolate bar it was produced from 1934 until 1992. It seems like Frys made a better quality chocolate than other company's. The Frys company started in Victorian times (In Bristol I believe.) They were later taken over by Cadburys. The original Frys factory was closed when Krafts took over Cadburys in 2010.

They were tasty Get Carter. Each colour actually tasted different. These days any colour centred chocolate doesn't seem to have a real flavour. The flavours were orange, raspberry, lime, strawberry, and pineapple.

.............. I remember kids at school burning paper Mars bar wrappers using the sun & a magnifying glass...no idea why they did this. Do you remember kids putting Twistie and chip packets (crisps in English 'speak') in the oven ? They would shrink down very tiny but still retain their shape and colour. We used to make jewellery out of them. Remember doing this to make key fobs I always remember the older folk in the family would prefer the frys chocolate. I never tried a five centre bar but it looks yum and i would love one right now Had a check and the Frys name is still in production though only a limited amount of bars now. Frys
