Great pictures Batgirl, I'm very envious of how you've gained such access to the pitlane. Sam.

Absolutely stunning Batgirl. Thanks for sharing these with us. It looks absolutely brilliant. I've set the old SkyHD box to record the race as I'll be away in Newcastle for the Get Likely Meet this weekend but it promises to be a brilliant race. Enjoy the whole weekend Gene.

Great pictures Batgirl, I'm very envious of how you've gained such access to the pitlane. Sam. It is the first time I have had pitlane garage viewing Sam and I was amazed how much we were allowed to see and how close we got to the cars, particularly when I turned around and the McLaren was being pushed along behind us ! Alonso was there at first when the first people went in. It was very crowded and I couldn't see him but then as people left I was able to get to the front and walk along all the garages. It was a real highlight. Many selfies taken in front of cars and garage names. My four day ticketing had two bonuses built in. If you bought your grandstand seat and paid for it between 4-6 months before the event you were given GP Advantage membership. This entitled you to a 1 hr advised day and time pit visit and tomorrow there is a main straight walk before the crowds arrive. The GP members also can use a club area that is basicly one section on the fence before the main straight which has its own small food area and an enclosed bar room with seating and shelter from the sun. I think people can just buy tickets here but you get it as an extra with selected grandstand seating. Anyway it has been a real bonus. If anyone on the forum ever considers a trip to an Aussie GP plan it well in advance to ensure these extras are part of their deal.

Thanks for the heads up on the Melbourne tickets Batgirl. It's definitely one of the races I'd like to do very soon too. Enjoy the race weekend too and hope it's a good, close fight too.

Day 3 Very early start for me with the main straight walk scheduled for 9am but had to get there by 8.15am. Fangio stand. My seat is in the last row of blue seats in section F which is about where the fifth pole position is. No activity in the garages. Though we could see the Renault. Must have been a long night for those mechanics. Though one supercar seemed to have an early start Will post more pics later. Today was a top day. Fun but tiring. Big day tomorrow ! BUT have to show this from the stage interviews.

Day 3 continued I visited the Melbourne Walk area which is where the drivers and teams walk past from the car park and international media section to get to their village area. There is a scheduled hr a day of walk bys so people can get autographs and a lucky few take selfies.Nice to see Mark Webber conducting interviews again this year. I've always been a fan, probably why I stuck with Red Bull as my favourite team. I went to just take a few pics but really the stage interviews were way better to see and listen to the drivers. David Coulthard conducted the light interviews on the stage. These were good fun and always interesting to hear what the drivers have to say. He asked them silly things like what is the last picture you've taken on your phone. Massa showed his son eating breakfast that morning. Vandoorne had himself in the F1 car. Hamilton had a pic from his hotel. Raikonnen claimed he didn't have his phone with him which no one believed. Vettel had a screengrab of Verstappen's crash at practice ! Vandoorne, Alonso, Massa. Vettel Hamilton is such an entertainer. It is an interesting contrast to see his light and fun joking side with reporters and his business like professional track demeanour. Bottas hardly said a word but Lewis was funny and engaged the audience very well. You can't help but do a bit of star spotting while you're there. Nicole Kidman visiting Ferrari. The Supercars were great to watch and good to hear. I was very pleased with seats in the Fangio stand. Porsche Carrera Cup cars The track is so diverse from different points. This was around the Gate 3 entrance. The Ferraris get a bit of a beating on the track ! The F1 qualifying session was scheduled for 5pm. What a race full of surprises. There was an audible sigh amongst a lot of the crowd when Daniel Ricciardo crashed in the qualifying race. The repairs overnight including a new gearbox meant he would be penalised five grid spots. That's life in Formula One. It can happen to anyone. www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/39391284
